Biscuit dough.... just no ;D and totally OT but my BFF was making Christmas cookies and did some dough sampling. Ended up sicker than a dog. She fainted, rolled her ankle, and ended up with a break that required surgery. So beware of raw dough eating

Re, the biscuit dough, I should have specified, it's the Pillsbury biscuits that come in a tube.

Murly, NoAngel, and others who have expressed how you feel about the Joan Rivers "comedy"-- thank you. I was angry last night about it, and being told on twitter that I shouldn't be shocked-- it's Joan, after all and that's her schtick-- didn't make me feel any better. I went to sleep thinking maybe I had over reacted. But here's the thing-- and please, it's a personal story and in no way am I criticising any one or any race or any thing. When I was 5 years old my dad, newly enlisted in the US Army, moved us from Hawaii to California. Up until then I had no concept of being "different" or a part of a minority. Everybody's in the minority here. For the first time I was the "only." The only Asian kid in the class. When other kids started doing the sing song chinaman thing to me I didn't understand, not being Chinese. When I told my mother she advised me to just laugh and ignore it in order to get along. So I did. For years. I got along and was part of the group and accepted, and if laughing at the way people made fun of Asians was part of it-- well, I did it. After, all they didn't mean to include ME as part of the group they found funny, right? I don't know when it happened. I know I was already grown up and out of high school. I stopped laughing. I stopped pretending I thought it was funny just to get along and be part of the group I wanted to feel a part of. I stopped doing something (laughing) that made me feel dishonest and small and like I thought it was all okay. People just don't, for the most part, use that kind of humor anymore. When Rush Limbaugh did the sing song chinaman thing talking about Hu Jintao many people called him out on it. Many did not and told us to "lighten up." Why? That kind of humor is as old fashioned as humor based on black stereotypes. It's not acceptable any more. People and society have EVOLVED, for the most part. I see this Joan River situation much the same way. Labeling gay men as women is, or should be, not acceptable any more. I see it as denigrating both gay men AND women. Why should we laugh along with the joke when it just isn't funny any more? I have nothing against Rivers. I don't want to insult her or call her ugly. I just think we have EVOLVED, or should. And maybe, so should she. Again, these are my personal feelings. Please don't take offense. Aloha and murly, I agree with both of you. Murly, the bolded part resonated very strongly with me, and you summarized it beautifully. What's always bugged me was how people making any kind of offensive remarks like that were always like "chill, you're really being over-sensitive" when I tried to say something about it. For many years, I actually tried to convince myself that maybe I actually was, and that it really wasn't that deep. Not anymore. What I've realized, they are bullies at worst and ignorant and insensitive at best. I can't, in all conscience, not react when someone speaks rubbish like that. It doesn't mean I make it a whole rant on social issues and stuff, but I think it's important to call it out when it happens. The bottom line is, if they feel it's ok to share their point of view, I'm certainly entitled to share mine. Also, what's also interesting, I think many people are afraid to speak up. It really shouldn't be so-after all, aren't we all taught to be kind and respective of others?-and suddenly, doing the right thing and calling out unkindness and disrespect is somehow more difficult? I don't want to make this post too long, but I wanted to share a similar story- two of my closest (male) friends are gay. Great guys, whom I love to pieces. Another friend, who's also friends with them and loves them a lot, always refers to them ( even to their face) as "pederi", meaning "faggots". They never say a thing, usually ignore it, but you can tell they're pissed. It's so mean and disrespectful and insensitive. I told her over and over again she should mince her words, but she doesn't want to. I asked her why she does she do it?-in her opinion, most people call gays that way anyway, and at the end, it's what they are, so what's the problem..? I told her, you are 32 and single; didn't you hate it when some people called you a spinster? They could've easily said " a single girl", if they really had to comment about at all. In my opinion, the problem is that words are a most powerful tool. They can cut deeper than any weapon could. To know that the chosen word or expression has a mean connotation and the ability to wound, and yet to still choose it, is just cruel and wrong, and nobody can persuade me otherwise. OK, end rant... I could talk about this particular subject for hours. On another note, Adam looked gorgeous and I think he's rapidly being more and more considered as a huge star. #yay

I'm watching Oprah and Debbie Reynolds is on and she is awesome but I am still kinda bored and need to take a shower but I don't wanna get off the couch right now so Imma just sit here and pontificate for a bit. Humor me, okay?
I'm actually really glad that Adam has decided to go in this less glam direction for his next album. Number one, he is always gonna be glam just for the sheer fact that he is "openly grammy nominated" and flamboyant and over the top and loves his makeup and leather and acoutrements and what not. That's just part of his persona, but thankfully not everything that defines him. Changing it up, new looks for each album and such, are the status quo in the biz nowadays and besides being something new for the fans he has now to appreciate, it may be something that will bring in new fans. Some people just are uncomfortable with a shitload of rhinestones, gay or not. Frankly his pancake makeup assaults my "less is more when it comes to foundation" sensibilities. And yes it's stage makeup but man...sometiiimes maaan he looked ooooraaaange! Just sayin.
As for the actual musical content of the album I'm SUPER EXCITED. Don't get me wrong, I looved FYE, and despite having a huge fucking grudge that burns me inside that Pick You Up was never sung live (sdbajghdfahdiahid), I think it was a pretty musically sound debut album. Given the fact that he recorded it in 2 freakin months while on the Idols live tour, it's pretty amazing it sounded as good and had as many solid songs as it did. Ok so maybe I wish IIHY wasn't his second single and FYE woulda probably been a massive hit had Britney been pseudo singing it like she does and Fever too if the USA would stop clutching it's pronoun fearing pearls...whatevz. I am not angry about that......much. Bottom line is, yeah the production wasn't the best on every track (Aftermath will ya turn down the early 90's stadium rock backing track thaaaanks!), but if THAT can be accomplished in a mere two months....IMAGINE how awesome his cd could be when he actually has time to THINK and WRITE and BREATH while making this cd!! And he wants the vocals to shine, which I think the reason they got so drowned out was because it was such a rush to produce and mix all these songs. With more time we will FINALLY get a cd worthy of his voice.
I hope. Plllllleaaaaassse.
I just hope he can write some amazing songs with his collaborators/producers/whatever and maybe pull some more gems of songs out of himself like he did with 'Broken Open' which is beautiful. Not to mention some kick ass tracks. I am really thinking he is going for the male Pink vibe here. She kicks ass and is fun but also has deep and emotional songs. Good stuff.
In short....I can't wait!
Ok. Pontification done.

ME TOO!!!!!!!!! And there's only one other artist who I love almost as much as GNAFL and that is P!NK! Pisses me off she isn't bigger in the US. For me, I think Funhouse should be recognized as one of the greatest albums of the last decade. Fuckin Perfect is way more an anthem than BTW! P!NK's got the party songs and heartfelt anthem's down. If Adam could do that......... OMG!!!!!!!! There's no one doing that, right? No male Pop stars?
