The other day I was thinking the same thing, the male Pink. I think he is emotionally deep and interesting like Pink. More pink than like Gaga. Although I really hate it when he is called the male____. (fill in the blank) Really he is just Adam.

ME TOO!!!!!!!!! And there's only one other artist who I love almost as much as GNAFL and that is P!NK! Pisses me off she isn't bigger in the US. For me, I think Funhouse should be recognized as one of the greatest albums of the last decade. Fuckin Perfect is way more an anthem than BTW! P!NK's got the party songs and heartfelt anthem's down. If Adam could do that......... OMG!!!!!!!! There's no one doing that, right? No male Pop stars? ME THREE!!! 8-)

I'm watching Oprah and Debbie Reynolds is on and she is awesome but I am still kinda bored and need to take a shower but I don't wanna get off the couch right now so Imma just sit here and pontificate for a bit. Humor me, okay? I'm actually really glad that Adam has decided to go in this less glam direction for his next album. Number one, he is always gonna be glam just for the sheer fact that he is "openly grammy nominated" and flamboyant and over the top and loves his makeup and leather and acoutrements and what not. That's just part of his persona, but thankfully not everything that defines him. Changing it up, new looks for each album and such, are the status quo in the biz nowadays and besides being something new for the fans he has now to appreciate, it may be something that will bring in new fans. Some people just are uncomfortable with a shitload of rhinestones, gay or not. Frankly his pancake makeup assaults my "less is more when it comes to foundation" sensibilities. And yes it's stage makeup but man...sometiiimes maaan he looked ooooraaaange! Just sayin. As for the actual musical content of the album I'm SUPER EXCITED. Don't get me wrong, I looved FYE, and despite having a huge fucking grudge that burns me inside that Pick You Up was never sung live (sdbajghdfahdiahid), I think it was a pretty musically sound debut album. Given the fact that he recorded it in 2 freakin months while on the Idols live tour, it's pretty amazing it sounded as good and had as many solid songs as it did. Ok so maybe I wish IIHY wasn't his second single and FYE woulda probably been a massive hit had Britney been pseudo singing it like she does and Fever too if the USA would stop clutching it's pronoun fearing pearls...whatevz. I am not angry about that......much. Bottom line is, yeah the production wasn't the best on every track (Aftermath will ya turn down the early 90's stadium rock backing track thaaaanks!), but if THAT can be accomplished in a mere two months....IMAGINE how awesome his cd could be when he actually has time to THINK and WRITE and BREATH while making this cd!! And he wants the vocals to shine, which I think the reason they got so drowned out was because it was such a rush to produce and mix all these songs. With more time we will FINALLY get a cd worthy of his voice. I hope. Plllllleaaaaassse. I just hope he can write some amazing songs with his collaborators/producers/whatever and maybe pull some more gems of songs out of himself like he did with 'Broken Open' which is beautiful. Not to mention some kick ass tracks. I am really thinking he is going for the male Pink vibe here. She kicks ass and is fun but also has deep and emotional songs. Good stuff. In short....I can't wait! Ok. Pontification done. LOL. By the time I wrote what I wanted to say about the Joan Rivers thing, the conversation has already moved on to more interesting subjects like album no.2:-) I should really practice thinking and writing in English more quickly :-) Chunkeymonkey, great post-I agree with most of what U said. I looooooove/d FYE; I still listen to it more often than not and it's never boring to me ( although I couldn't agree more with your description of the album version of Aftermath..I prefer the acoustic one). My thoughts on the new album; never mind the fact I'd love and buy anything he decides to put out, I really think he's onto something good this time around. I think he said it'll probably be more rock-oriented, more edgy, more dark...I have a certain idea of what I think that means, and if that turns out to be the sound I'm imagining, it's gonna be great. I'm not concerned about Adam or his decisions in the slightest. He's a smart guy who knows what he wants and who's not afraid to take risks. With an mindset and attitude like that, he's bound to do well. BTW, I agree with him probably wanting to go "the male Pink" route. It's not a bad direction to go to, and would give him a lot of mainstream validation. I'm torn on that one, cause I love the crazy DTRH, Voodoo, Fever, BO Adam, but on the other hand it's maybe a bit too much for an average ( cough boring cough musically unchallenged cough) listener. I always thought that with a voice, charisma and talent like Adam's, he's not meant to sing to a small, niche audience, so whatever he wants to do to enter the current music "royalty" is OK with me. He'll have time to experiment later. Also, as you beautifully put, him being who he is, he'll always be glam, camp and over-the-top, no matter what he sings and how he presents himself visually. To me, he radiates so much joy and positivity, he stands out just being who he is, and his feathers and whatnot are just the icing on the cake for me:-)

(sdbajghdfahdiahid), I think it was a pretty musically sound debut album.
I agree with almost every word of chunkeymonkey's long-ass post, but this is the part I choose to quote because I can.not.let.this.go. Just when I thought I was finally getting over my heartache on this you had to bring it up. And IMHO most of the songs on FYE are far better than 90% of the stuff on Top40 radio. So I've always been mystified with the comments that "he needs better songs." Maybe the mystery will be solved for me when Adam2 is released and I can understand what "better songs" means. Hope so. I DO understand the too much production lament however. John Moser will be exhumed one more time by me - for laughs. blogs.mcall.com/lehighvalleymusic/2011/02/doylestowns-justin-guarini-to-take-over-role-in-broadways-american-idiot.htmlFirst Paragraph: Is this guy for real? And would anyone take him seriously after that remark? ;D ;D ;D Btw, the comments are funny. ALL are anti-Moser. Worth a look if you don't care about giving him a hit.

I agree with you completely. Also, even though I agree that the "too much production" lament has its merits, it never stopped me from enjoying the album. If anything, with songs being so diverse , that production gave the album a rounded feel, if that makes any sense.

No. That stuff will just be part of a more fine tuned, better focused album consisting of top 40 accessible tracks as well as more edgy shit that will somehow meld into a unified ball of AWESOME! In my mind that is lol. JazzRocks--sorry for bringing up the pain that dare not speaketh our names. I too weep for the loss of Pick You Up live and hope someday, when he has enough material for a much longer concert, he will pull that one out of his hat.

This is just a test. Trying out the proboards app on my phone to see if I have sense enough to use it (unlikely).
