Michael Slezak @michaelslezaktv Glee Recruits American Idol's @adamlambert tvline.com/2013/07/10/glee-season-5-cast-adam-lambert/ … JULY 10, 2013 06:34 PM PDTGlee Recruits American Idol's Adam LambertBY KIMBERLY ROOTS This fall, Adam Lambert will take his career in New Directions. The American Idol runner-up is joining the cast of Fox’s Glee, series creator Ryan Murphy announced Wednesday via Twitter. No details yet on who Lambert will play or where (Lima, New York, someplace else?) his scenes will take place. This news comes on almost exactly the four-year anniversary of the very first Lambert/Glee rumor, which swirled shortly after he placed second during American Idol‘s eighth season. In addition to Idol and numerous television appearances, Lambert’s resume includes several theatrical gigs (including the musicals Wicked and The Ten Commandments: The Musical) and a performance in Pretty Little Liars‘ 2012 Halloween episode.

okay i'll take up the slack of any uncertainty. I haven't been this excited in a long time. i'll admit to watching glee in a love/hate manner. (i hate much of the song choices and auto tune but it has moments of brilliance w/the origianl characters) Most of all, this could be huge for adam IF he does well on screen - doesn't matter that the show is fading- it still has Lea Michelle, Chris Colfer and Naya Rivera (forgive spellings). (There have been hysterical guest arcs with NPH, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kristin chenoweth (and a great one ep w/Matt Bomer). My early wishlist is: - First, please please let his character be part of the New York/NYADA storyline (or Santana's NY storyline - she'll prob start a band or such while Rachel was trying out for Funny Girl revival) Just don't send him to Lima Ohio - though he would be funny with Coach Sue (Jane Lynch) but no one watches for that part anymore as the new kids haven't caught on w/audience at all. - Following up above - if he's part of the Rachel B'way storyline - great! And maybe he could sing something with Idina Menzel (Rachel's mother on the show) - Would have put this higher. Though I don't want Adam on B'way now, I am a big fan and loved Jonathan Groff on the show as Jesse St James. (I don't think the young watchers of Glee got how funny a parody his character was.) Jonathan and Adam doing something together would make me smile. (If you are a fan and haven't seen Jonathan's bits on you tube in things like the Miscast shows or his duet w Jeremy Jordan - pls check them out.) - Finally, I love you like air Adam but please please have been seeing an acting coach:) Whether you like the show or not - these are actually strong actors and it shows when someone isn't. Congrats Adam - clearly he's excited and I'm happy for him. (If you think you're annoyed about having to watch - now Neil will have to watch Glee lol) Are you saying they might be filming in NYC??? If yes - do they have street scenes???? (I see so many shows being filmed on the streets...would be so great to watch the process...) I am sure he'll have an acting coach. He mentioned he had one for his MVs and he knows he needs one!!! I am not worried on that front... YOu said the show is fading - what are the numbers? anyone? I assume the demo is rather young? I believe they only do exteriors in NYC but not sure. I think it's LA based. And while it has faded from the dominance of earlier years I think it's potentially more like a slump if they get things back on track this season - there is a hardcore audience of a beautiful demo for pop music. What failed was the experiment of doing a divided show with original characters Rachel and Kurt and Santana in NYC working and going to the drama school juxtaposed with new high school characters trying to keep the teen/school setting alive. That didn't work because the audience didn't adopt the new high school kids. They still want to see the original characters mostly. BUT if i remember correctly - the show was extended for two more seasons (prob to let it wrap up) and the audience is still several million (8 maybe- I haven't googled). And the audience demo is great. So it still garners a lot of attn. ETA: google indicates ratings down from over 10 mil first season to around 5 in season 4. (Trivia note: just remembered that i only started watching Glee (very resentfully) because they advertised it so heavily Adam's Idol Year (premiered to build on Idol audience just as Idol finaled I think) and I felt bereft staring at my tv each week w/Adam gone. I'd forgotten that...)

My sweet and darling DH loved GLEE and often wished he would be a guest star. Well sweetie, looks like he one upped your wish as it looks like he will be a regular . I believe he had DVDs of past seasons. I just wished he were here to see his dream come true. But talk to him every night so he can watch from heaven. Love you My baby and i miss you. {{squishes mayumi HARD}} Oh, bb, I'm glad this news brought you back to the board. Missed you so much. Bittersweet watching maybe, but it will be glorious.

Glee is shot mainly in studios here in L.A. Some of exterior scenes are shot at locations near LA (they've used a high school in Long Beach. CA). Only a few exterior scenes are actually shot in NYC.

This must be a good thing because all the news outlets are choosing some of the best Adam photos. No snark there.
Very exciting!
