Adam's time on Glee will depend on how well he can connect with Glee's viewing audience via a TV screen. He is an incredible vocalist and has had plenty of stage experiences; however, Glee is not live theater nor a singing competition. He needs to connect with the viewers through 'credible' screen acting. Although Glee is considered a comedy, it has its dramas. Since he is not yet a proven screen actor, I do not believe he will get a complicated storyline.  This will limit his screen time. Not a bad thing. It will let him grow and mature as an actor. Depending on how well he will be received by the Glee TV viewing audience (not just by his current music fans) and how well his storyline is written,, his part on the show might be expanded or not. I do not think he is joining the cast as a regular. Recurring, yes. How long?... depends on the above. Someone mentioned an acting coach earlier?  I think that time on Glee has mostly to do with connecting with Ryan Murphy and fitting what he has in mind at the moment. And Adam has had acting training and experience. He/his management seem to have had pretty good sense about what he should do -- showcase appearance on PLL, host on divas, now a role on Glee -- all seem to be fitting for him. I still think he could be playing Adam Lambert on Glee which will not require a lot of acting. I think he knows how to do that "role" better than anyone. |

I'm wondering whether it's possible that Glee already filmed Adam while he was in NY attending all of those plays. ETAOh gee Glee, that might mean Melvin stays for awhile.  They tape Glee (both the NY and the Ohio parts) in Los Angeles, not NY or Ohio. The have not taped Adam's segment(s) yet. I bet Melvin-stache goes before they tape. ** As far as I can tell Idol is not an option. Per Adam, FOX had not approached Adam or his reps about judging Idol -- even before the management shake up when they were close to signing JHud and that whole Idol alum idea was floating around. It appears that the idea is on ice or scrapped because nothing more has happened with JHud. So there is no reason to think this was a real possibility. Setting that aside, I think GLEE accomplishes everything that Adam could have gotten from Idol, and a bit more. I think it is the better place for him to be. >> I am assuming Adam has a recurring role on GLEE with a minimum of 3 shows -- perhaps the whole first segment Fall 2013. If GLEE is a one show guest spot, then I think doing Idol (if he gets the chance) would be great. In the past a GLEE guest spot has not been referred to as joining the cast -- and has not had this kind of existing cast twitter response. So I think this is a cast spot not a guest, 1 show deal.
GLEE - Big new audience. Adam gets to act, sing and dance -- it expands his career possibilities. There are 6 to 8 million viewers ratings are declining slowly but not a dramatic fall. There is no one critical of this casting choice, the GLEE cast performs so Adam will be performing, GLEE does current music, the guest cast get to do their own music, the show has great demos for Adam and a big loyal audience. He will still get to perform on Idol when he has something to promote. GLEE had two albums in the annual Top 200 last year, performances sell on iTunes after the show. IDOL - The audience knows him. Adam gets to show he in an interesting personality and knows music -- good for keeping him in the public eye but does not expand his career possibilities. There 9 to 14 million viewers, but he will be primarily associated Idol forever -- and 2014 ratings could be far lower than 2013. There will be some people and some press and bloggers who will criticize the choice of Adam as a judge -- and that criticism will not be good for Adam (not successful enough yet, too early in his career, etc). From the research I have seen (2008) Idol audience mostly buys country and rock (alt rock, soft rock, guitar rock, classic rock) music, not current pop so not a good fit for Adam. I think at least 30% of Idol's current audience probably likes country music. Idol performances in 2013 did not generate big sales lifts. >> No matter what happens we know he will be invited back to Idol for a big show.A: GLEE Fall Season + IDOL Performance - makes sense to me for Adam. Expand his audience + retain Idol fans. Change his bio from Singer-Songwriter to Singer-Songwriter-Actor B: GLEE + IDOL Judging - limits the time he can spend on his music and touring. Change his bio from Singer-Songwriter to Singer-Songwriter-Reality TV Personality. I prefer A.

but with this caveat: we don't know if the AI format will stay the same, it might be changed drastically in order to attract new viewers and create excitement. IMO there is no way to say if being an AI judge will be just sitting at the table... may be they will add some active coaching/mentoring or whatever they can come up with....may be they'll have guest judges a la SYTYCD (it would be great to be invited at the time of A3 drop)... |

I haven't watched Glee but I've seen some on Twitter who are familiar with it say that it's not known for it's acting. Someone even said it's probably the most poorly written and acted show on TV. So I'm not worried about his acting. I'm thinking this was probably a good place to start. I think he probably has a coach and he'll do fine. It is a musically comedy show but not the worst written or acted show on TV. And yes, I am sure Adam has an acting coach. |

I ADORE those photos of Adam with the birds and the gif of him reacting to the one that gives him "attitude."
I can't wait to see Adam on Glee - I think we are going to see things from him we have only gotten glimpses of as yet. You know that hilarious, wonderful interview with the gal who split her pants (who recently tweeted in response to the Glee new, "I'm so excited I could split my pants")? Remember how Adam responded to her question of who was more intimidating, her or Oprah? Adam went into this overdrive sexy, flirty, lip-pouting persona, in his reply - it about killed me. Clearly, it was "a character," so to speak,and it just made me think about how much there is to him skill and talent-wise that isn't directly related to singing. I think we got glimpses into it with the Divas sketches, too. I can not wait.
This week has been an emotional one, "fan"-wise. I have to apologize because, after that HR 80's album article, I was down! and I engaged in what I believe the twitter-universe might deem "wanking" or "doom fapping." I feel badly about it. I was stressed and sad (or "sadz," as said universe again might say).
But then, of course, everything changed.
And I don't want to veer from one extreme to another, but I am SO glad that I got to see Adam perform at Universal in Orlando because I think it is likely now that Adam's star is going to rise even higher.
(I still would love for some interviewer to ask him how famous, how "big," he would like to get.)

Thanks so much for this but what really interests me is that ALL OF THESE ARE OLD!!! I should have asked, has he been in People Magazine in the post GNT era? Even the Sauli split up didn't make it whereas the old split up did make it. So I think it will be interesting if this Glee story makes it into print. First time since 2010. |

I like it better when you put it that way Q3.. but as we all or some of us agree that anything happens for a reason or reasons. Reasons we don't know because DMG/Adam/Shoshanna don't want to leak of what's happening behind the scene to us fans  .. so Idol or no Idol things will be good for Adam. They're great team!!! Just look what's happening with Adam ever since he's with DMG.. or just look 2013.. he's almost every where.. and how about China? The first Idol ever to have a concert in China? They're working great and fast for Adam. If Adam stays with Fuller.. I doubt he would do all these great stuff for Adam.. I'm still hoping to get a single by Fall or close to winter.. aka November  |
