So much for a slow news week!
First let me just say this:
asledkfas'odfkgjadofhga;lkladfg!!!!!!!!!
I have so absolutly no time right now to Bert....so I will need to come back some other day and enjoy all these mega threads that Atop has assembled over the last few days.
And let me just say:
I am soooo NOT worried about Adam's label situation. Totally calm about that.
Whether he has it all rapped up with a bow on top or not, he has tons of options, including going out on his own, btw.
My guess would be that he tries to do some work together with Queen and therefore made label arrangements accordingly, but if that guess is wrong, then I am not going to lose sleep over it one bit.
Now, as far as the tea leaf reading, I think I did alright, I will continue to believe that a leopard does not change its spots, because it has proven correct again. My impression of Shirley H. was always that she is a pro. Yes, she lives off of hand-outs that people relay to her to report on them. But she does that with integrity and professionalism and knowledge and she verifies her sources well. For two days, she needed to deal with a bunch of Glamberts putting her on her shit list, just because they did not like the message.
But the reality is, the fact that the Glamberts ran up a storm, gave Adam the chance to use this as his reasoning for his exit. And he thanked her, by giving her the parting info letter too. So, I thought that was quite thoughtful of him there too.
Also:
RCA's change in managerial direction DID affect Adam since 2011, his songwriting was not supported by the new RCA management, they messed up the whole Trespassing release (incompetence or on purpose, who knows) and what I am even more mad at them for, they destroyed his ability for touring, well knowing that this is where he truly shines the most. In fact, that was the point at which I realized they were not supporting him for who he is, because the lousy release strategy hurt them as well as Adam, so it was somewhat hard to argue why they would do that to themselves. But not supporting /sponsoring a tour meant they did not support his artistry.
Now, we know, they DID want that cover album, actually, even worse, they really wanted a complete cover album (even I did not believe that) and I was one who did believe Shirley's article that RCA was forcing Adam to do covers.
The only thing I really got wrong, is that I thought Adam was stuck, thought he had to stick it out for 5 albums, did not have a chance to walk away. Turns out, that was not true. I am so happy about that right now, you cannot even believe it.
Nevertheless....Adam's got tons of guts, and he needs our support now more than ever!
And I am joining those that are thanking RCA for the first 24 months of support Adam had there.
Bye, bye Clive for the latter half of his time there, wish you good luck with your 'artistic vision'. Perhaps you can ask Adele to sing a covers album for you next. I know she is over at Columbia, but its worth a try.
