Every once in a while, I stumble across a gem. Or in this case, a friend takes me to see a film that I would not have noticed. That happened to me yesterday, and I wanted to take a moment to share it with you.
This film is a documentary -- that has already won 4 major film festival awards and was nominated for two Sundance Film Festival awards. But I usually do not pay much attention to documentaries. In this case, I am glad I know someone who does pay attention to them.
The movie, “20 feet from Stardom”, is a tribute to the passion, talent, and hard work of backup singers. It is in limited release but it is worth seeking out. The film not only features some of the vocalists who made so many songs in the 60’s to 80’s great, but also provides a unique view of the music business.
