Happy to celebrate you today, reihmer! Thanks for all of your kind contributions to the threads.
Given Nile's recent enthusiasm about the song in the media, and with Nile, Adam, and Avicii performing together soon at Nile's charity event, it does seem odd that "Lay Me Down" might not be the upcoming single from Avicii's album. But maybe the decision was influenced by the fact that "Lose Yourself to Dance," another Nile collaboration, has been selected to be the second single from Daft Punk's latest album. Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" and "Lose Yourself to Dance" both have a signature Nile Rodgers's sound. Maybe Avicii doesn't want to release another electronic dance song with Nile's sound that would be climbing/competing on the charts at the same time. So, the plan might be to let "Lose Yourself to Dance" have its turn before releasing LMD.
Also, since the next song is only Avicii's second single from the album, maybe he wants to solidify the "Avicii" name and presence on U.S. radio first (if they didn't see or pay attention to the video, some mainstream U.S. radio listeners might think Avicii is singing on "Wake Me Up," and might not be aware of what he does or how he creates his music even though he's already had previous success with "Levels," etc. ). If Avicii releases LMD next, many listeners will associate the song and its success with Adam, the well-known voice/name that they hear, and for mainstream radio listeners Avicii's name might initially get lost in the shuffle---or maybe it would just be confusing until listeners who aren't so familiar with Avicii, or who only liked him because of the first single, catch on to the concept.
A bright side is that there may be less pressure for Adam with LMD as a later single. The other song can serve as a transition from the sound of "Wake Me Up" to the electronic sound Avicii fans are more accustomed to and an introduction to the mix of genres Avicii plays around in before Adam is added to the mix. And the other two songs will have paved the way on radio and the public will be well primed by the time they get to the Adam-Avicii single (fingers crossed). And since album single releases often ramp up in quality and impact, LMD will be in a great position to really take off.
Also, the core Avicii fans (maybe some who might not have been receptive to the collaboration?) will have been listening to, and hopefully liking, LMD on the album and in clubs/concert for a while by the time it's released as a single, so maybe they'll be even more supportive at that point.
And there's the chance that the release might coincide with Adam's promo activities for Glee (and whatever else he has in the works), which would be nice timing all around.
So, although I'm hoping for a great surprise in the morning (especially since "Lay Me Down" seems to be a track that's been held in reserve), and I think there are also good reasons it should be the second single, I'll understand if LMD isn't a single yet.

OK now...thanks to several devoted ninja's we have several versions posted in the last two pages. Is it just me that found the one I posted EXTRA meaningful? So often, much of what impacts us is really subjective so I really would like some of you to watch the one I posted and added to my original post [if you can find a better version, all the better] and give me your feedback....just for interest's sake... Oops, I didn't see that you found the right version yourself in the meantime! Yes, the version of "Underneath" that you found is brilliant and very touching, especially at the end!

I found an even better version of that night...

Thanks Q3 and Pi these are great vids. My brother had me listen to the George Jones ballad "He Stopped Loving Her Today" which of course I never heard before because I don't listen to country music and I keep forgetting to send him my Adam ballad type songs. My brother calls it a George Jones vs Adam Lambert sing off....I mean... 'SERIOUSLY'...he must be kidding! I'm going to put Underneath in there, too! If your brother like George Jones, I suggest that you do not send him Underneath. I would select a more traditional song -- perhaps Aftermath Acoustic Live version.

Nancy Sinatra @nancysinatra 1m Heard Adam rehearsing through the wall the other day, wanted to knock on his door but didn't want to disturb him. @rhondac23 @adamlambert This will be another Elvis-like moment when they finally do meet. Frank hosted the Welcome Home Elvis show and Nancy starred with Elvis in Speedway. She should have just knocked on the door! I just learned an interesting fact. Nancy Sinatra's married name was Nancy Sinatra Lambert!!!

Don't knock. Musicians generally don't want to be interrupted while practicing. She lives in his building? Also, don't tell him he can be heard easily--privacy is important.

I see what your saying, Q3, but it's time my brother expands his music boundaries! And I already sent the videos! My brother did admit to me once that Adam has a good voice and he does like Queen music so maybe he'll be more open to the songs. If he isn't...well it's his loss!! ETA: But I think I'll send him the acoustic Aftermath now too! lol
