Hi! After lurking here (too many times a day)for a couple of years, I've decided to go ahead and register... I discovered Adam during the Idol auditions. Missed seeing the Hollywood rounds, then caught up again during the shows. Saw him in Puyallup during GNT. Probably won't post much because my DH does NOT approve of my "obsession." (I'm really jealous of those of you whose significant others participate in your Adam activities with you!) Anyhow, I'm happy to have a place to come to to check up on Adam news! Gaga has lost it. Don't know what is going but this whole week she has been "off" and coming across as desperate. Why she didn't wait for her own week, for her single, is beyond me! the leak was a poor quality version. as a result of her panic, non of her promo was in place. What a disaster! Katy has ignored everything and is staying classy. Gaga's fans are scarier than Beiber's!! When the DL numbers come out tomorrow for Roar And Aplause, I am sure Gaga will think of something else to deflect it.
And this stuff with Perez is beyond crazy!

I apparently missed something about Adam's Glee appearance(s). Was there something that referred to a guest spot rather than being part of the cast? I'm looking forward to this and hope he has a recurring role but not putting all my hope eggs in this basket. The music's the thing!!! Nope... don't think you missed anything. As far as I know he's still part of the cast. |

"Shady" vs. "Get Lucky" -- I have no better, they are so different. Shady is more complex and sophisticated and has brilliant vocals. "Get Lucky" has that funk-neoreggae backbone, has a stronger hook and is happy, perfect for Summer and perfect for pop radio.
The primary hook "We're up all night to get lucky" even great on the distortion repeats with
Niles guitar underneath it.]
If "Shady" has a pop hook I do not know what it is. It certainly is not constructed like a pop song. It opens with a funky guitar riff/repeat.
No matter the genre, no matter the quality, modern pop music hits have hooks.
A lot of the songs on FYE and Trespassing are not designed, and I do not believe were intended, to be single. Adam's two biggest songs, have hooks -- easy to remember repeated sections. They also have classic pop song structures.
The hook does not need to be repeated 30 times, but it has to be remembered on the first listen -- like in Adele's 'Rolling in the Deep' "We could of had it all." I remembered it the first time I heard the song.
So it is not the complexity, it is the memorability factor. (Although the more complex the song is, the harder it is to make an element stand out. A song gets a couple plays to connect with pop radio and online listeners -- and if a song doesn't connect, it will fade away.
