Thank you for the long contrarian post Q3... I love reading reasoned arguments by knowledgeable people! Food for thought, whether ultimately in agreement or disagreement. I love her post, too. I don't post much and annoy everyone when I do, but here it goes: 1. Homophobia is alive and well, and equality is far from a done deal. I agree that a gay artist couldn't have popularized Same Love. However, only a few years ago, no artist, gay or straight, could have convinced top 40 to play Same Love. The song is radical. It doesn't only deal with civil rights, but also DIRECTLY takes on marriage equality, on top of attacking right wingers and the Bible. I stress DIRECTLY, because this is where the song differs from "Born This Way" or "Firework." Some change in the right direction is better than no change. Kudos to the lgbtq community for creating this change. 2. Asking the majority to remain silent when it comes to civil rights is crazy. That the majority is vocal about an issue means that they feel strongly about that issue. That makes the issue politically powerful. Obama called for full civil rights after polls made it obvious that he would gain by such a stand. Few Democrats today could pass something like DOMA and hope to survive the next election cycle. All that helps the lgbtq community. Without vocal majority support for a minority community, you get Russia, where (according to a Pew survey) 85% of the Russian public supports Putin's laws against the lgbt community. Given that kind of support, why would Putin think twice about scapegoating a minority community? Out of the goodness of his tiny yet saintly heart? Hardly. I'd hit the "like" button for your post, if we had one.

I think Aviici wore headphones in utero, so we have to cut him some slack on his hairline! Very few have the blessing that is Adam's hair or insert other body part in the blank.-----------
