Early Am musings:OK What I think I'm hearing and reading..Is that Adam needs a defining hit song that marries the words and music to his ICONIC VOICE , WWTLF ? unfortunately it belongs to another, Freddie Mercury.. Brian May do you just have another song just for ADAM?? I love many of Adam's own songs but they don't always show off the different sides or the' full monty' so to speak of Adam's incredible gift. Thinking Dolly Parton's 'I will Always love you' and Whitney Houston. IMHO Adam wants to write that epic song, but will he? Would he mind having someone else's song do it for him? Is it just to early in Adam's career for this and isn't Adam still experimenting with all different types of music.. Does he even want to be identified with one song or one genre.. He can really do it all. Adam may just have the voice looking for that perfect place/song,that place/song/genre that catapults him into that greatest singers 'hall of fame'.What do you think??I thought I might have had the Eureka moment.. I'm thinking many have had it before me..LOL...For now just Basking in the glow of Adam's amazingness and America waking up to it.... Back to bed Post script.. WTF am I rambling about?? Mellie, I love everything you were rambling about Adam ..... he needs that one fabulous song to set him on the map forever. WWTLF is already taken but I belief he will get one of his own...maybe even from Brian. Adam can produce powerful vocals with the right song. I'm so happy for him! Thanks for your insight.. I think i get up too early ,5:00 am LoL

Ok, let me rush in and clarify. I in know way think Adam must play a guitar or someone must play an instrument to be a respected artist. I think Adam is an awesome song writer-- I greatly prefer his Trespassing songs to the ones penned by others. But I think what he needs is to take it to the next level with his instrumentation. Whether that be by getting a collaborator who is more able to do that, by focusing on more songs written by others, or by learning it himself, I dont know. Queen has taught me the value of the music and paying attention to songs that have catchier music than lyrics all lead me to think this is where he can improve. There are songs on Tres. that I believe have greatness -even viseral connections, but they could have been even more complex and even greater. Maybe his new direction will lend itself to this anyway. I do not set my sights low for this man and I believe he will never stop trying to learn more and grow further. And, I can be his biggest fan and admit improved skills, his or others, would be forward movement for him. His first two singles on Trespassing were written by others (and very successful songwriters), and we know how that worked out for Adam. I think the key is to hear a song over and over till it actually becomes catchy. Also, the more ears that hear them, the more successful. There were many songs on the radio that I didn't like upon first listen, but got to like them after hearing them over and over I think Adam is an above average songwriter -- and has gotten better. All of my favorite Adam recorded tracks except 1 are Adam co-writes (in random order) -- Aftermath (acoustic), Voodoo, CLYG, Pick U Up, Pop That Lock, Cuckoo, Broken English, Outlaws of Love, Runnin. The exception is CLYG which I would love to have a simpler production version of -- like stripped.

Count me among those who has no desire to see Adam learn to play an instrument. If he wants to, fine. But I doubt he will pursue that. He already has a voice that is the equivalent to a Stradivarius violin. The finest in the world. For more than two thirds of his life he has been dedicated to learning how to use that instrument with the greatest skill, artistry, and flexibility. He has doubtless put in tens of thousands of hours to mastering it. (I remember reading a study somewhere about it taking roughly 10,000 hours to master a skill at the top level, be it playing an instrument or executing dives like an Olympic champion.) I remember having this discussion with Angelina once, and she commented "When would I ever have the time to practice and master an instrument? I spend all my time with my VOCAL instrument."
Adam can collaborate with some of the best instrumentalists in the world. They can then collaborate with one of the best singers in the world. Win. Win. I play piano as well as sing. I enjoy both, but singing touches me very deeply and personally and feels so wonderful. I would choose to sing over playing piano any day of the week. I would much prefer to work with a talented accompanist on the keys so that I can focus on the vocal interpretation. With a voice like Adam's, I would think that would be his preference also. Focus on what he does best, and find others to do what they do best.
As to writing songs? I don't need for him to compose or write lyrics either. There are many talented composers and lyricists out there. There are thousands of incredible songs already written. There will never be a shortage of material for Adam to sing. But, how many singers today can perform a song like Adam does? Technically, artistically, emotionally, dramatically? I want Adam to do what Adam can do like no one else.
Just personal opinion, but I think one reason I get so thrilled when Adam sings with Queen is the quality and complexity of the songs. It lets Adam really shine and show all what he can do. Much of the pop stuff he has been doing as a solo artist is not vocally or musically much of a challenge for someone with a voice like Adam's. IMO, pop doesn't require a strong, refined, controlled, technical voice. I hope that whatever A3 turns out to be, it will have a new type of "pop" or other genre that takes advantage of the skills Adam brings to the table.

So logging on just to see whats up, and I find the conversation has turned to Adam's brief experiments with heterosexual women.
I think Adam is the kind of guy that likes to try (almost) everything once and in all the interviews he has given it seems that he has copped to a variety of different experiments with women, but all of those experiments took place when he was quite young. Like pre-Idol, pre Zodiac show early.
Meanwhile I am obsessing on the possibility that I will actually end up with VIP seats for the NYE show because the VIP packages are stoooopid expensive. I just cannot even justify it.

OMG! I can't!!! Adam becoming a bad guitar player so he can write "better" songs scares the hell out if me! I can't think of many thingsthat would totally stifle his creativity more than that! Most song writing teams have a lyricist and a composer . And since most composing is done with computers now, trust me, plucking a few chords on a guitar happens more and more rarely!! BTW, I think Adam is a great song writer! ETA: Adam is a smart man. If he felt he needed to play an instrument, he'd have done it! He grew up with a piano in their house! He is almost 32 and extremely focused! I think I trust Adam on what he "needs!" ITA Adam should do what he wants to do. And the last place he seems to be headed is to learn how to play a guitar and do folk-rock-alt music. Guitar-tethered singer songwriters are everywhere. I want Adam free to sing notes that are on and off the guitar. Setting that aside -- I have heard that Adam can actually play both the piano and the guitar just not to the level that he defines playing. Anyway, you can compose music with a computer and/or your voice. No need to play a traditional instrument. You do not even need to learn to score music because it is automated.

They all have meaning and tell a story. Some are not radio friendly songs but I get a real connection to a lot of them. Pick U Up is one underrated song. My other favorites are FYE, Nirvana, By the Rules, Chokehold and Take Back.

I don't care who writes a good song I really care how it is sung.

I've been gone this afternoon and wanted to ask if I missed DanceyGeorgia's mp3 of the iHeart concert leaving out SBTL. The one with it left in yesterday sounds really good. If someone has the revised mp3 could you please post it here? Thanks in advance. ETA: On the 'Adam playing an instrument' discussion MJ didn't play an instrument, did he. Yeah, his brothers did but I can't remember seeing MJ playing anything. Did he ever write his own songs?

He needs to continue to surround himself with great songwriters. Until Adam writes a song 100% by himself we really have no idea how great of a songwriter he is. For all we know he can just add a line or 2 and get credited as co-writer. So far for me I won't say his songs that he had co-written were awful but for some I haven't been all that impressed. I really dislike Trespassing and Cuckoo lyrics. I find them very pedestrian and silly. I'm more impress with his co-write in songs like Nirvana. Elton John doesn't write 100% on his songs, and he is known to be an excellent writer. Some of Adam's songs have complex and deep lyrics. Some are simple. Some of the simplest songs with meaningless lyrics become huge hits. Doesn't Phillip's Home have very few actual lines of lyrics (I'm not saying Home has meaningless lyrics, but it just occurred to me that there really weren't that many words). I think Adam wants to get more involved with a song than to just write a line or two. I don't really consider that a collab, but a completed song that was given to Adam like Pick U Up.

I just cannot even justify it. I think the Winstar said that there will be VIP seats for sale on ticketmaster, without buying the package. The thing that makes the package so expensive is that the room for NYE is close to $400 alone. The package is a good deal if you are already staying there, purchasing 2 tickets AND want the entry to MIST (their nightclub where they will have an after concert NY party apparently) and a poster (not signed). I tend to think the available seats MIGHT be better for the pkg. purchasers but they do say that VIP seats will be available by themselves at 10 am central on TM - be quick and grab em!
