Craazyforadam, I was the one who posted about writing by committee. You misquoted me or completely misread what I wrote... Nowhere did I say 'Too many songs are written by committee' ...here is my quote... ".... almost everyone in pop writes by committee now. Bruno Mars and Pink (who apparently doesn't play any instruments either) are both known as outstanding writers and they always write with other people. IMO Adam has written some great stuff". Very few people write solo anymore. Especially in pop music. ok, yes, I guess, I misread that sentence, sorry. But, if your point is that most pop music today is written by committee, and I clearly agree, remains the question, whether this is a good thing or not. My opinion is that lots of pop is mediocre and maybe because of it. While it may take a whole team to finish a song, it imo starts with somebody taking the lead and putting the basics together. And that is usually one person, sometimes two. Not a team of 10. And to add one point. If Adam could find that one song-writing partner with whom he magically harmonizes in personality and thought process and with whom he can easily bounce back ideas, then perhaps this can work too. That person then takes on that echo role that I was describing. So far he has not found that one person (up to TSP) and whether Nile can be it going forward, we obviously don't know yet. Btw, where you have great song-writing duos, one plays an instrument (not counting vocals). And to your examples: Bruno can play guitar and other instruments. MJ had good drumming skills and basic guitar and keyboard skills. It was further told that he loved playing the violin and found playing it relaxing. He never played instruments during performances. Supposedly there are some videos of him playing a little, but I don't know where they are. So both of them are examples for my team. Nobody can guarantee a Billie Jean to come out of a songwriting process, but somebody like Bruno Mars does not have more talent than Adam. No way do I believe that for one moment. He just has a few tools in his toolbox that Adam does not have, but that he could acquire, if he so desired. And then there is the radio machine, but that is a whole different topic. Of course, it is Adam's choice what he does. I can state my opinion and he is free to ignore it. Would love to hear what some others, like Brian, Roger, Nile are telling him behind the scenes.

I should hope so. I would also hope they are fantasizing about straight dudes. J/S. Straight women are attracted to men..... a man is a man, gay or straight. This is true. We can all acknowledge when a man gay or straight is attractive. My best friend's husband is attractive but I don't fantasize about him. I also have many drop dead attractive gay male friends but I don't fantasize about them. See the difference. I guess there is something built in my brain that tells me how far I can go. Following Adam has been quite interesting to watch.

ok, got to jump in on the other topic - or at least some of it:
It is totally absurd imo that our society assumes that somehow gay and straight are so separated that one cannot sing about going down experiences, if that is not ones preferred gender partner arrangement. I think Nile got it exactly right. Let Adam just claim the territory and if the whole world wants to debate his right to claim it, then the whole world is talking about him and listening to him and nothing could be better for business. Bravo! So what if people do the yapping. Here as well as elsewhere in the world.
What it takes to sing about the subject is someone who a) is not shy about it, b) comes across as believable, c) somebody people are curious about, d)somebody who has the right attitude, and e) somebody who is attractive and sexy. Working out is good for that.
Oral sex is first and foremost a question of attitude and energy, not a question of physical details. We all learn as we go along in life, we learn the technical aspects. Its our personality, our will, and the read that we have on a partner, that we bring along. Nobody in the world is going to make me believe that this is any different for gay versus straight, even though I admit I have never walked on the other side.
But I totally believe that if Adam sings about stuff like that, that the whole world will start having an opinion about this, just like here. Great!
Adam will own it. But I have no doubt he will. Imo, he wants to be more sexual, not less in his public image. He just probably feels restrained by public opinion. And perhaps the right answer is to push those walls away. If done right, I think it would totally work.
We shall see. Anyway, when was the last time Adam had a 'gate'? It's been a while, perhaps it is time for some gates. Where is the boundary? I think right now, the boundary is defined a bit by Glee. While his own music can push much further than the squeaky clean show, if scandals are such that the character that he plays on the show is impacted negatively, then that is one step too far for next year. But the direction, I think, is a good one.

Watch away...we get quite frisky at times...as you have so pleasantly noted.

Deep breath. Deep breath. This thread is an interesting sociological study on what is appropriate to talk about in terms of sexual activity, what is offensive, what is or should be private, and what is polite for fans of a celebrity. It would be great material for someone's masters thesis, for sure. My thought was a bit feminist. Why is it uncool/inappropriate for middle-aged women to be discussing the sexual thoughts and acts of a gorgeous gay guy - "cats in heat" is a particularly derogatory image in my mind - but there is a bajillion dollar industry catering to middle-aged men drooling and fantasizing and masturbating over gorgeous, busty, scantily clad young female models and cheerleaders in magazines, movies, TV, and commercials selling everything? Double standard rearing its ugly head again? Just sayin. Cassie, this is how I see it. The "cats in heat" maybe insensitive or derogatory but I'm keeping it real. In my neck of the woods among people my age that would be exactly what we would say after we laughed, rolled our eyes. We talk real talk. Ageism, pure and simple. I'm so pleased that women of a certain age are keeping the general population entertained. What a f**king load of crap -- I talk real talk too.
