I am of the opinion that when Nile called Adam, he knew darn well, that version would never be a demo!! Nile is very, very smart!!!! For Avicii, every song for the album had pretty much been decided and finished. So for him, in his mind, it was probably a demo to see if he wanted to use this new song! Like I said, Nile is very smart! If anyone hasn't read his book yet, I highly recommend it! That's what I think too!

Why are people surprised by what Avicii said? I posted all this exactly this way 5 days ago. And got chewed out here at Adamtopia over it. It was obvious that this is how it happened.
Avicii thought that a demo recording was next step. Nile didn't, and went out on his own. Avicii liked what he heard the next day and accepted the terms that came with the deal.
And yes, I do believe that Adam at minimum reworked some lyrics. Some phrases sound very 'Adam-ish'.
But if you want to discuss Adam as a songwriter, this is not the right example to choose, because here he came in at the back end of the whole process. There are plenty of other examples, where Adam did much more and was there for the beginning.
And while I like that classic rock gives Adam some love here, I do think that Carol (the DJ) could have moderated her critique a bit. His songs are not bad, he does not deserve that. She could have said that she did not like them, rather than universally diss them.
There are lots of gems on his albums (both FYE and TSP). And I really like Avicii's album, but if I compare True in originality to Trespassing, then I think that Trespassing can totally hold its own.
What I do agree with, is that Adam has yet to write or record a timeless song that we will listen to in 50 years. One like WWTLF, or even a WWRY stomper or a dance hit.
Somehow he has been close with lots of his, but just not quite there and the luck of radio support did not come his way to lift one of the almost great ones up to that level of fame that top 10 songs tend to enjoy, whether they deserve it or not.
And, to end with another topic I regularly get flack for on this board. I do think that the reason Adam is close, but just not quite there in his songwriting is because he cannot ground himself in an instrument to give him the necessary support. He has to translate what he wants with words and then take what another person echos back and work from that. He will win, once he fixes that. It takes about 6 weeks to learn guitar to a level that you can support yourself with accords. It's not that difficult or time consuming to learn the basics.
It takes years to learn guitar such that you can perform professionally. Adam will never need to do that. He can always leave it to others. But if he wants to win as a song-writer he needs to fill that gap to support his writing process. YMMV

For some reason I have a hard time picturing a Vegas residency. I could be wrong but it doesn't seem to me that it would fit. A few choice gigs in MSG and the like? Absolutely when the time is right I could see something like that before they need their walkers So hopefully they don't lose Adam's number! Roger is definitely feeling up to tour as he mentions in promotion for his solo album but I'm sure that will all be quite close to home in the UK As far as WWTLF goes...what might surprise you and what surprised me even after I had listened a few times is that on the studio version it is BRIAN who sings the first verse. AND then he comes in for a line in the bridge as well! There is a full Freddie version in the vault and indeed in Highlander, when they play the track it's the full Freddie version but the normal album/single version has Brian on the first verse Do you have video links for both versions? I posted the full version with Freddie on yesterday's thread somewhere between pages 12 and 14, I think. It was at Wembley, when the song was first introduced in 1986. The version Talon is talking about....I guess Talon will have to provide a link.

iTunes Music @itunesmusic 23 SepWhat is your favorite song on the album and why? #AskAvicii tw.itunes.com/6um Tim Bergling @avicii 23 Sep @itunesmusic That's such a tough question, but if I had to choose one, I think “Hey Brother” is my favorite track on the album. #AskAvicii AVICIINEWS▲▼ @aviciiegypt 23 Sep @avicii @itunesmusic #AskAvicii I think u have a new favourite everyday LOL This might be a clue to the next single. It maybe "Hey Brother" as opposed to LMD. Last week, on the day that Avicii asked the question "what's your favorite track on the album," I scrolled through his Twitter feed so I could see what kind of responses he was getting. I saw someone ask him why "Lay Me Down" is the only song from True that we can't listen to on his VEVO account until March 2014. It looks like she asked him because someone she follows noticed that the audio won't be available on VEVO until March 13. (You can read the message that VEVO displays if you click on the song at the link above. However, if you search for Avicii on VEVO, you'll find that LMD doesn't appear in the list of videos on his official "About" page---or on his YouTube page.) These are just audio clips, so it doesn't make sense to not even have a snippet of LMD on Avicii's VEVO and YouTube accounts, no matter when he's planning to release the song, so perhaps it's just an oversight (the only oversight). But maybe the date on the message has some significance? Maybe they're planning to release "Hey Brother" first to ride the wave of the success with "Wake Me Up," a song with a similar sound from the same genre, and move to LMD for the spring. Maybe the strong, positive response to LMD had them rethinking the plan for a minute (or maybe Tim was just taking advantage of the interest in LMD to hype his album release), and then maybe the sales or response from listeners to "Hey Brother" (which does sound more like a winter song) made them go back to the original plan? It would be kind of weird to hear a song like "Hey Brother" after LMD, hard to return to that sound. The flow seems off. It would be easier for me to imagine following LMD with a song with a female vocalist, if Avicii releases another song after LMD---which he probably will do because LMD will be such a hit that it'll increase demand for another single. I'm still hoping that LMD will be the next single so they can capitalize on the current spontaneous, organic, passionate enthusiasm for the song from listeners and media. And because I really want to hear it on the radio now! Also because I was hoping for a single release from Adam's own album in April/May of next year to pave the way for a fall album release, and not releasing LMD until spring would push that schedule back. But I also think spring leading into summer is a good time for a dance song like "Lay Me Down." And it gives time for Adam to establish himself on Glee, separate from any song promo, and put himself back on some people's radars before the song comes out. His Glee character could return after the hiatus and Adam could do a bunch of combined promo for the show and song then. Nile is a promotions master. I think following when he starts, or stops, promoting something can tell us a lot.
