TALCvids @talcvids Queen's Brian May, Roger Taylor call working w/Adam Lambert "gift from heaven" ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/82046029.html Brian May, who worked for decades alongside Freddie Mercury in Queen, knows a thing or two about vocalists. So when he talks about Adam Lambert, with whom the band just made its U.S. debut, it resonates. “He’s extraordinary,” May says in this iHeart clip. “It speaks for itself, his voice. That’s one voice in a billion. Adam can do things which really I have never heard anyone else ever do in my life.” Queen began with Mercury in 1970, and continued with him as their flamboyant frontman until Mercury was felled by AIDS-related illness in 1991. Since, Queen has worked with a number of other singers, notably Paul Rodgers. Queen first took the stage alongside Lambert in 2009, during the finale of the American Idol singing program. May and Roger Taylor, the band’s original drummer, have since worked with Lambert at the 2011 EMAs and in a series of European dates last summer. Brian: We have a chance to do great things with Adam Lambert. He really is a wonderful foil for us, so it's a kind of gift from heaven, really. Roger: I think even since we did a short tour of Europe last year with Adam, and even since then, he's just come on, he's just amazing. He's such a great interpreter of our songs and he has a great stage presence and we really enjoy working with him. Brian: It's a lot of fun, too. He's nice to work with. He's fun and light and he doesn't have any airs and graces, and you know, he just gets on with it with us, and we seem to just, we feel like a family. It's nice. Interviewer: How do you bring those two energies together. You have been together forever and Adam... Roger: Whiskey (laughs) Brian: It wouldn't happen with, you know, a billion other people, but it just works with him. It feels comfortable and nice, and challenging, also, because he puts different interpretations on the songs, so it gets us to play a little differently. So, it's nice, it's alive.

Gelly @14gelly Queen: 'Working with Adam Lambert is a gift from heaven' | Gigwise po.st/mmchWW via @po_st Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor have spoken out in praise of singer Adam Lambert, calling him 'a gift from heaven'. Watch the interview below. Lambert has been performing with May and Taylor as 'Queen + Adam Lambert' for a number of years, filling the shoes of the late, great Freddie Mercury. Now in a new interview with iHeartRadio, the band hail The American Idol star as 'a voice in a billion'. “He’s extraordinary,” said May. “It speaks for itself, his voice. That’s one voice in a billion. Adam can do things which really I have never heard anyone else ever do in my life. "We have a chance to do great things with Adam Lambert. He really is a wonderful foil for us, so it's a kind of gift from heaven, really. It's a lot of fun, too. He's nice to work with. He's fun and light and he doesn't have any airs and graces, and you know, he just gets on with it with us, and we seem to just, we feel like a family. It's nice." May continued: "It wouldn't happen with, you know, a billion other people, but it just works with him. It feels comfortable and nice, and challenging, also, because he puts different interpretations on the songs, so it gets us to play a little differently. So, it's nice, it's alive." Drummer Roger Taylor added: "I think even since we did a short tour of Europe last year with Adam, and even since then, he's just come on, he's just amazing. He's such a great interpreter of our songs and he has a great stage presence and we really enjoy working with him." Queen has worked with a number of other singers since Mercury died of an AIDS-related illness, notably Paul Rodgers of Bad Company. Rumours are now rife surrounding who will play Mercury in an upcoming biopic of his life, following the departure of Sacha Baron Cohen from the project and Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe denying that he was in line for the role.
