The Adam Lambert concert at the Hobby Center for Performing Arts on September 8, 2010 was a tour de force for Adam. The Hobby Center had never before hosted a music concert, and long and difficult negotiations were required to secure the venue for the Glam Nation Tour event.
Adam had performed at the Hobby Center in 2004, where he had a starring role in the play “Brigadoon” for Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS). His performance of “Come to Me, Bend to Me” is legendary.
Many of the personnel that work at the Hobby Center remembered Adam, and were very excited that his tour was coming and that they could hear him sing again.
The ushers at the Hobby Center were all volunteers, and during the concert, they were as excited as the fans watching the concert. That is why crazylady and I were able to stand in the aisle of the second row and watch, dance, and flail at Adam’s amazing performance. There were at least 25 people standing in the aisles, and we had a great view, except for some tall cute guy with a hat on that got in our way.
One of the highlights of the concert was Adam’s delivery of “Sleepwalker”, which is probably one of the fiercest and most impressive renditions he has given of that song.
Of course, Suz526 was there to take great videos, and she even showed up for our party, and I got to meet her, she is a sweetheart!
The Texas Glamberts put on a fabulous pre-party concert “Glam Nation Take Over at Hard Rock Café”. We did completely take over the Hard Rock Café, there were about 250 Glamberts that showed up to the party, which is a block away from the Hobby Center in downtown Houston. We had Adam’s music videos and some of his performances from Fantasy Springs, including his entire run on American Idol, playing on all the TV screens and sound system, both outdoors and inside the Café. We ran a silent auction, with lots of cool Adam memorabilia which was donated by Glamberts from all over the country, and also a raffle, and were able to donate over $1,500 to donorschoose.org. We had custom blue glow sticks with the name and date of the party/concert, and we had a “glam station” where you could get yourself glammed up for the concert, proceeds also went to donorschoose.
The top bids from the auction were for a Meet and Greet with Adam, that went for over $700, and this Adam doll, that went for $150.
Thanks go out to several members of Planet Fierce (you know who you are) and all the others in the Glamnation that donated items for the auction. We also put together gift “buckets” (galvanized buckets) with the theme “A Taste of Texas” for Adam, the band, and Allison, one for each bus. There were all kinds of goodies for Adam and his mates, custom jewelry, sweets made in Texas, etc. There were cowboy hats and biker doorags, glammed up bandanas, and of course, Anti Monkey Butt Powder and Lady Anti Monkey Butt Powder (available at Tractor Supply). I personally delivered the buckets, along with 3 bottles of Tequila and 2 bottles of Texas wine, and lots of personal notes and gifts for Adam and the other members of the troupe.
We even had a web-site to promote the party and to provide info, but its gone now, but most of the information from the party is still here at the web-site for Texas Glamberts:
Many of the members there, especially TexasGlamFan, site owner, (who designed the party web-site, all the name tags, table plaques, and other graphics needed and then got them all donated) did a whole bunch of work putting together the party.
What was most amazing was that RoRo and I, and many others that helped, planned this whole party with me sitting at my computer in remote BFE Texas, 500 miles away from Houston, and RoRo in Cut N Shoot (near Conroe, Texas). In fact, I didn’t set foot in the Hard Rock Café until the day of the party. RoRo and I had never met, but she and all the others that helped with this party, became great friends, and still are.
Ahhhh, the power of Adam Fucking Lambert! (and the internet).
The GlamNation Take Over Party and the Adam GNT concert also got some great press. The Hard Rock Cafe did a press release on the party:
Joey Guerra, Houston Chronicle music critic, did a couple of articles about the event, and even organized a pre-concert gathering to interview Glamberts. He was supposed to interview me, and we e-mailed back and forth a couple of times, but in the end he found others to talk to:
(The ladies featured in this article, Debbi & Sue, were the ladies I hitched a ride with to go to the New Orleans show, and have we become life long friends. They also ran the registration table at the Take Over Party, and Deb helped me make the videos we showed at the party).
This is for major Adamtopia announcements. If you want to discuss Adam, start with today's Daily News & Information thread.

atomom: Adam's artistry is in full display: the surprise of hiccuppy gasps right before "new eyes", the sensuous tongue, one-two punch of "damn" smile, head thrown back, body drops to heavy guitar beats, a lusciously looking Adam--all make NE a visual/aural feast.

phronni7: Linda, Thank you so much for your kind wishes and thoughts. I tried to send an earlier thanks, but I don’t know what happened. I was definitely in Zombie mode and might still be to some extent. But I love “I was born to Love You”. Than you again, Laur
