What a great thread tonight! I'm loving all the stories behind your names, and as a bonus some stories about how you found Adam as well. My nick is a part of my real name, and a play on the word nick as well. And because that was taken, I had to think of some numbers, and since I am a major geek, of course they should be 42 (the "Answer to The Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything" from the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy). It was made up on the spot, because I found Adam through youtube only a couple of months ago. I lurked here for a while, and when I finally had summoned enough courage to really join a forum for the first time ever, especially one with people that knew eachother for quite a while, I wanted to do so immediately. So glad I did! Glad you joined. We love getting new people!!!

Adam was asked in an interview pre-FYE (think it may have been during the AI tour)what he would call his first album. Chameleon was a name he suggested, probably thinking of the many colours of himself he was going to show on the album. Of course the album ended up with the most appropriate name possible but I remembered the interview when I chose a forum name. I took it when I joined PF, which was my first ever forum - I only ever lurked MJs & TWoP. I like it because it seems appropriate for me as I usually blend into the background here & on twitter! Sauli & Nea advanced to the top 3 in the contest, judges' comments:
**First routine to Vogue by Madonna**
Marco (guest 8.5): Vogue has started in the 80's in NYC already before the song, in the gay clubs, and the idea was to both joke about and admire the top model's poses, there's a lot of self-irony and it's most of all an attitude, not only about the moves. In this performance there was the attitude and when you skated towards us I saw the fire in your eyes, also your hands had much more power than the previous pair's hands, the movement started nicely from your sides (body). I was happy that the one jump wasn't perfect because then we'll get to see what you're made of, you took the rhythm back and finished the sequence beautifully. I liked this a lot, yes, a lot of good things.
Anuliisa (9): (interviewer mentions 'a fall') No, that was not a fall, just a hand touching the ice, worth only a small deduction really but we don't give separate points for that. Sauli, you took a big challenge, flip, tulp, ritt - and a truly excellent pirouette, really lovely it was. Difficult choreo, a lot of variation in steps, and you had ascended to a higher level in performing, I didn't have to stare at your feet only but could see your (moves and) contact in a more wholesome way (~body expression) so it was worth of a nine.
Mika (8.5): Now you proved your skating skills, you had listened to us and did more with one foot, it's slides better that way. The routine was more difficult than before, the hand on ice deducted maybe just the 0.5 points as the jump sequence wasn't perfect but overall, excellent.
Mila (9): You may lack the high lifts but you have the challenging jumps instead. I agree with others that in this contest the hand-on-ice doesn't matter. And then you have the gorgeous pirouette that was a plus. I liked your attitude and the eagerness, and what you do it's clean, could be a bit more difficult perhaps but worth the nine.
**Second routine to 'Minä ja hän' (Me and him) by Jenni Vartiainen**
Marco (guest, 10): This was so lovely, just so lovely! The focus, there were just you two, 'me and him', nobody else. You performed so tenderly, you were concentrating, trusted the sliding and wonderful presence. You grabbed me totally in that world, you were so adorably wonderful, thank you!
Anuliisa (9): I had the same feeling and I was touched by your performance, you are cuties there, so adorable. You had enough difficulty (=difficult moves and steps), Sauli proved again that you can skate, triple turns etc, and it's not easy to be the leader which is the male partner's role, tonight you succeeded in that.
Mika (9): In this performance the most powerful thing was the feeling you created between you two, there was nobody else and nobody else is needed. You skate well. One thing I wish that your upper body would be more giving (expressive), then I could give 11 points.
Mila (9): I felt that you had us tenderly in your palm, I really felt that, good music choice. At the beginning (Sauli's solo part) there were lovely, difficult moves, also trained combining steps more. You are wonderful that you dare to be different every time, I like that. Great feeling/atmosphere!
PS If you want to read more, get links to clips, have questions etc. send a PM and I'll try do more tomorrow.

This Brooklyn girl moved to SoCal for almost 5 years...this was BM&K (before marriage and kids).....and the "peach tree" quote was on a bookmark I had found in the Village Bookstore, before heading West. I brought it back to Brooklyn, tucked in a book of inspirational stories, when I decided to give NY another try. I have always liked it, for some reason......

Thank you thank you belle! I loved the second routine, and it is so nice that you take the effort to translate for us. I can understand quite a few languages, but Finnish is just totally strange to me. Sauli is just so easy to like, and I admire the dedication which he clearly has put into his skating.
