Back in 2006, the company I worked for was doing visual effects for the Superman Returns movie. I loved reading rumors about the project "from the other side", in other words, from the point of view of the Superman fans on forums (there was a forum called BlueTights at that point dedicated mostly to that upcoming film alone). I wanted to have a name that does not reveal my true identity, while paying homage to Superman's home planet (Krypton) and had my birth year in it. So I combined "crypto" (Greek for hidden, secret), "Man from Krypton" and 1968 and voila! The movie came out and kinda flopped, although we got an Oscar nomination for effects (Pirates 2 won that year deservingly), but the name stuck since I was using it for my YouTube account. Now Google asks me daily if I want to switch to my real identity, and I still refuse. When I first came to ATop the night after the EMAs, I wanted to use my "real" nickname which is "Bobo", but it was already taken, so I reused my alternative one... Hi Kryptoman68! I confess, as a big fan of Clark Kent and Superman, I wondered what was the story behind your name. I'm glad I know it now. Oh, and I discovered Adam at the EMAs too. Nice coincidence. **************** My name is pretty simple. 'Shimo' is a part of my last name, 'li' is from my first name and 710 is my birthday (October 7).

Nothing original about my name. It's actually the name of a company I was working with at the same time I was trying to think of a name. And since I'm not getting any older now that I am getting younger every year because of Adam... it seems to fit. Also, when I found the evergreen watercolor online and loved it, that settled it. Wish I could credit the artist, but there was no way to find out whose work it is.

My name story is rather boring. RA is the first 2 letters of my first name and MA are the first two letters of my last name. Put them together and you have Rama. OMG! Its funny, because I always thought you took your name after the wonderful Arthur Clarke's Rama series! I mean Rendezvous With Rama is like the best SciFi story EVER!!! in any case - every time I see you post I think of the wonderful Rama world! I Love it!

Wiga is a combination of the first syllable in my maiden name and the first syllable in my married name.
I teased by husband when we were getting married to create and use a combined name, rather than use one of our surnames. He declined. We are using his surname. Using his surname was my choice. He wishes at time we were using mine.
Ah well, I thought Wiga or Gawi would have made for a fun surname. The stories we could have made up about our ancestors, missed opportunities.

In 1979 I was a member of a very large archaeological crew working in West Alabama on the Tenn-Tom Waterway. The crew had people from all over the US on it, but was largely a joint project of the University of Alabama and the University of Michigan. (I was from Alabama but doing graduate work at U of M). The Yankee guys were so surprised and appalled at the rowdiness of all the Southern women on the crew that they dubbed us "dangerbelles" and I've been one ever since And BTW, since I'm delurking, let me just say how much I enjoy all of you on this board. You are consistently positive, funny, and kind, all attributes of AFL. Love him and all of you.

What a wonderful idea with these name-stories!!! Adding my two cents My name is JanuarySnow, because I love winter and snow, and what's more important - just like our beautiful BB I was born in January (and not only me, but my sister and nephew and several friends), so it's a big celebratory month for me. And here's all the snow around... :D
