I'm loving this thread - it's so interesting getting to know some of you a little bit better.
So here's my contribution. "Ann" is my real first name; however, the "ala" part was given to me years ago when I got to know my husband's family who is of Eastern European Jewish heritage (from Odessa). Coming from the Yiddish tradition, "ala" is considered as a light, diminutive, endearing add-on to a name. Although I am not Jewish, I felt so honored by the family to be given this nickname which I continue to treasure. My husband and I are no longer married, but the family ties are still strong. Also, in a very indirect way, I wanted a small tie-in with Adam's own Eastern European Jewish heritage.
Also, the name "Annala" rolls easily off the tongue. So there you have it.

I had been using my nickname "Sherbear" on the Idol Forums and on Planet Fierce, but when I finally found my PF friends at ATOP, I read over the rules and I decided to ditch the earnest yet warm Sherbear for a funner name.
My new name had decades of history. Years ago I was pregnant with my first son and we were gathered at out house playing Advanced Dungeons and Dragons brainstorming baby names. We were getting pretty creative and kind of obscene when one of party shouts out "mmm good cracker". My DH and I looked at each other and silently asked each other if we needed to cut off the beer supply when the guy explains. "Your name is Britz. Remember the cracker commerical??? The tagline was Ritz, mmm...good cracker. So just add a "B". It will be a great ice-breaker when your kid gets called on the first day of school. I can hear it now: Adams, Steve - here; Britz, MMM good cracker - here! He'll be famous! We cracked up. We had such a good time fooling around with it that I remembered my son's almost name 20 years later and it still never fails to make me smile!
I have never been a prolific poster and I seem to be an eternal lurker, but I am eternally grateful for all the wonderful news and information every one of you brings to the board. Although I have met many of you at either AL sleepovers or at the London Pre-Queen feast or at concerts, I gotten to know you most through your communications here. It is a warm and wonderful place to live on internet. THANK YOU!!!!!

Love reading all these stories behind the names! My BFF's name is Alison, but she has always been called Ali. My name is Erica, and she started calling me Eri - we were Ali & Eri LOL My birthdate is the 9th and 9 is my favourite number, so eri9 it is! Sometimes if it needs to be longer I add an nz (New Zealand) so I am also eri9nz at times

HaHa! Obviously I don't post often. I don't know what I am doing! I'm sorry for submitting twice. I'll quit and retreat back to lurkdom where my editing and posting skills are much better! *****
No problem. Fixed!! -HSM

Just watched those reaction to MTN videos and it reminded me of my husbands reaction. He doesn't usually watch Glee and I couldn't even get him to watch the iheart concert so I hadn't told him about Adam on Glee. Somehow he knew that Adam had been on and started watching the old episodes on the DVR. Well, the first one he put on was Adam's so I watched to to see his reaction. He had a smile on his face the whole time Adam was performing and he actually burst out laughing during "when we make love!" He then went on to say the music was the best part of Glee. I'll take that as a win! The only other part he laughed at was Artie swinging on the vine in his wheelchair. My name is self explanatory. Hmmmm, does one of these apply? Actually it used to be like the those girls when I was younger. Now I keep it really short as it goes frizzy, dry and out of shape if it's long. There isn't much room for short hair to curl.

My name story is rather boring. RA is the first 2 letters of my first name and MA are the first two letters of my last name. Put them together and you have Rama.

Coming out of lurkdom to tell how I came up with "crazylady." Forty years ago I used to go out dancing with some friends of mine every Wednesday night and I LOVED to dance. Still do. Anywho, one night a member of the band (same band every Wednesday night) told me I was one crazy lady out on that dance floor. For years, my friends called me that when we got together. Great memories!

My name..........I became a grandmother 3 years ago and my granddaughter started calling me "Mimi" as she couldn't say grandma. I added joy because I have felt so much joy watching Adam on his amazing journey. I mostly lurk but enjoy this place so much! Haven't seen Adam since Glamnation but hope to meet up with some of you one of these days. I also hope to get more computer savvy about making an avi etc. so I can post fun things
