LOL! Luke Easton 3ku1 20m I know Lady Gaga is busy but if she has got enough time to recoginise Bonnie Mckee, then surley she has enough time to tweet about MTN
Bonnie Mckee is no competition, and Adam is. Not everybody knows how to be gracious and Gaga is like a bulldog fighter when it comes to competition. It's kind of surprising, given what a mega career she is having, compared to the much smaller (in comparison) career of Adam. But I think she is feeling the pressure to keep up, what she has built for herself and she may know that it might not be sustainable long term. Adam is on a different trajectory. He may not have the pop star success right now, but in some ways he is by-passing that stage and moving forward on an individual path that will ultimately lead to that iconic status that everyone is talking about since day one with him. I think for Gaga, he is at the moment just threatening. Still petty, that she cannot acknowledge his cover, and ultimately makes her seem weaker that way. But whatever.

A few radio facts about BTIKM. It did get played. It got 97 radio adds in 3 months, before RCA decided to switch to NCOE. It made #17 on the HAC radio charts. It all boils down to choosing a single that would never crossover to CHR, then a Bad follow up single. Oh, and even though quite a few stations gave BTIKM good spins, it never connected with their audiences :( Poor sales! I truly believe if Cuckoo had been #2, the album sales could have been different. With the UK so vocal about Cuckoo & so many reviewers picking it as the best track, why it wasn't chosen, to me, boils down to pure incompetence. And we know from Adam's January promo interviews that NCOE wasn 't even supposed to make the album! Someone asked how do we know #3 will be treated differently? For one thing, a different label. Another thing, different political climate for gays. And press and Clear Channel seems to have turned a corner in their tone towards Adam. I am so excited about his future! "Intense forward motion" My feeling about a new label is that Adam is very close to signing with one or already has. I agree with you completely. Well except I think they should not have spent the promo money on BTIKM and released Naked Love as the lead single -- pushed to HAC then Pop. Then followed up with Cuckoo. I love Cuckoo and it got my vote as the second single. But you might be right about Naked Love Q3. It happens to me quite often that my students hear NL (I'm a teacher and between classes I listen a music on my computer in the classroom - mostly Adam of course ) and are like: "WOW, this song is good... This is really good, who's singing it?" It's interesting, because the reaction on this song is always so strong and so positive. It make me think NL could have been a succesful single.

And, what do people expect her account to tweet? @adamlambert I love that you sang a track from the album I am not promoting better than I did. *** A bit OT but as proof for the discussion about promotion and album sales. Interscope, Lady Gaga's label, reportedly has spent $25 million dollars to promote "ARTPOP," which has sold around 240 thousand copies in its first week in the US. Gaga has had tons of radio airplay, and ever promo opportunity short of the Superbowl. (Well she did not get the cover of Rolling Stone.) Even with that she will not come close to the sales she got from her last album. Maybe the failure of all these gimmicks to work, paired with the success of Eminem based on putting out a quality album and the reality of the current music business may get things back on track.

I wonder how much was spent on promotion for Katie Perry's new album? It has only sold a little more than Gaga's. I listened to the snippets of Gaga's album on Amazon and I only really liked 1 song, Do What You Want (With My Body), which is a great song for West Coast Sing dancing (as is Shady). I felt the same way after listening to Katie's and Miley's new albums - only a few songs I really liked. These days, I do not buy albums unless the cost of the album is less than the cost of buying just the songs that I like. Gone are the days when one had to buy the album blindly.

There is no chance that Katy Perry's album had as much spent on it as Lady Gaga's. And Gaga renegotiated her contract with Interscope after Fame -- when she looked like a hit factory.
If this is the real promo budget for Lady Gaga's ARTPOP (and I do not doubt it) there is only one other album with a similar budget -- Michael Jackson's "Invincible" which also had a promo budget of $25 million.
But yes, LG will be close to both Katy Perry and Miley on sales.
Miley Cyrus' "Bangerz" first-week sales 270,000.
Katy Perry's "Prism" first-week sales 286,000.

I have switched to Spotify Premium and pay $9.95/months for music access. I only buy Adam music.

New thread is up.

There were so many fantastic Adam-moments in 2013 that it's hard to pick one but I decided to choose a very personal one! My favorite Adam moment in 2013 was of course our trip to Helsinki where my DH and I saw him live in the "Hartwall Areena", met so many other Atoppers, Finnberts and international Glamberts and had lots of fun together at the concert, the Pre-Party and the Aftershow-Party! We loved Helsinki and had the time of our life there and it was great to see how internet friends finally became RL friends! Besides all the joy about seeing Adam live in concert again for the second time (after the GNT in Hamburg 2010), the trip was also a small personal success for me because it was the first time since 1997 that I overcame all my fears and my physical handicaps and travelled to a foreign country again. It was like a miracle that I managed to do the journey and I still can’t believe that I was really there! The journey changed my life very much until today because the positive feelings still last (… and I hope they will last for a long time! ) and now I have the courage to do many other things again that I couldn’t do for years. So this journey was my personal Adam-highlight in 2013! Oh and Adam, if you randomly read this: Thanks for encouraging me for the second time now! I hope many more concerts that I can visit will follow!!! "Betty to Finland" created for me by the wonderful chapf! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BTW, another highlight for me in the last time? ... !!! Oops, okay it was a joke!
