This news has all kinds of implications: 1. So does this mean Adam will be on more episodes of Glee? We know that Adam is going to be in at least 2 more episodes of Glee: 5x07 Puppets and Pole Dancing US broadcast date 11/28/13 and 5x09 which is now scheduled for Tuesday, February 25, 2014. But would they build an apartment set for one episode? I checked with a few contacts who work on TV productions who say that it could be for just 1 episode. But seems like Elliott may action be around for a few more episodes. What do you think?2. What will the storyline be? Why does Elliott need an apartment? Theories abound! It is a sign that romance is in the air and Elliott/Starchild needs somewhere private? Or, are we going to get to see what is in Starchild's closet? 3. Will Elliott have roommates? NYC rent is not that affordable. Or do his parents have a lot of money and he can afford his own place? 4. And then there is the big question: What will Elliott's apartment set look like? Will it be a typical college student's NYC apartment? Will it be elegant? Artsy? Ikea or Pottery Barn? Well, not being one to leave things to chance I have decided we should select the design we think Glee should use. If they were finishing off with Elliot, it seems they would have done that in the last episode before the break. I think it is much more likely that there is a more extended storyline and I think it was fluid until they worked with Adam and then gauged his impact on the viewing audience. Both came up with great positives. So whatever plan B was (an extension perhaps) seems to be underway. JMHO but also my great hope! Also I vote for a student type apartment - loft is perfect though very hard to heat (I know this first hand - I had to pay the utilities when my artsy daughter decided on a loft in Brooklyn!)
To be clear, I did not talk to anyone about the storyline implications of Elliott getting an apartment, or the prospects for Adam on Glee -- just about the investment of time and energy in a set for him. One friend detailed many much more elaborate sets that Glee has created for one scene on one show. That part is not a big deal. Giving Elliott a home, makes me think that he will be around for a while. But I can come up with story lines where Elliott has a scene in his apartment, get through off the band and is gone for a while. With Glee, it seems it is more about how Ryan Murphy feels about things. Adam seems happy to do Glee, he is getting good reviews from the crew, cast, press, audience and fans (everyone I think). I think that Ryan Murphy likes him but we have limited info about this. And it is really mostly up to Ryan and his writers. We know he is in 5x07 and 5x09. And the apartment would seem to be for the next block of episodes they are scheduled to shot -- 5x09, 5x10, 5x11, 5x12). In my heart/stomach I believe Adam will be around for a while. And with Glee now going back to it's original time slot of Tuesdays at 8 p.m. (Feb 25), I think it has a shot of pulling a decent audience. So while the building of the apartment set does not mean that Elliott will be on more than 3 Glee episodes, I think it feels like Elliott will be on more than 3 Glee episodes. |

Totally speaking from "feeling" as well, since I know nothing - but I would guess that besides doing a great job on screen, both vocally and acting - Adam has provided some needed enthusiasm and excitement to everyone involved in Glee. That's just who he is - and he couldn't have arrived at a better time, when the cast and crew are going through some hard times. I really can't picture how the pole dance thing will be done, but I suspect "Kurt" will have to really stretch/let go, while Adam as Elliott may have to tone it down a bit!
