TONIGHT! Adam at the Fontainebleau!

The Glitterati are assembled for tonight's concert at the Fontainebleau -- the famous hotel complex on Collins Ave. in Miami Beach, Florida.

The hotel has been renovated and they apparently spent over $1 billion. Most of that appears to have been on replating the crystal chandeliers because there are a lot of them. The hotel was designed by Morris Lapidus and truly was a wonder when it was brand new. they have restored the Chateau Tower Lobby Bar and some other parts of the hotel in an updated version of Lapidus' original vision, but other parts of the property are contemporary South Florida style. The results is an odd jumble that is oddly suited to an Adam Lambert visit.

There are Adam signs and posters and brochures and floor decals everywhere! While fans wait for the concert some are collecting every brochure they spot, others are being entertained by how "no one" will step right on the Adam's face decals on the floor.

Right now, I understand that Adam is 6 stories directly above me in the Penthouse -- hopefully sleeping and getting ready for a great show.

The concert will be on the lawn stage, which is outside facing the ocean -- and should be a great location. The wind has died down a bit and the weather should be fine tonight although certain to still be windy. The hotel staff told me they are expecting about 1,000 people for this "intimate, private" concert.

The VIP Meet & Great is at 8:00PM Tonight, Concert has no start time, but the "doors" open at 8:00PM and the Adam should take the stage "maybe a couple hours later". The attire is listed as South Beach chic. [BTW - we are actually not in the US Eastern Time Zone, we are now in Miami time which is very much like Lambert time -- somewhat vague.]

Update 3:00PM Miami Time

The stage is all set up. Sound system is set to go.

Adam and the band rehearsed for a while in one of the ballrooms. They appear to be taking a break and will be doing a soundcheck in about an hour.

The audience area is split into 4 sections -- on the left side are comfortable leather chairs and a private bar for the "Gold Club". The Gold Club is the Fontainbleau President and his guests. In the center is a small section for ADA audience members and then directly behind this is a section for VIP Meet & Greet ticketholders. Then in a L-shape is the largest sections allocated to "fans". Everyone will be close to the stage -- it is a very wide, narrow area.

The schedule:

8:00PM Meet & Greet, "doors" open, and the bar opens. The DJ will be playing music.

9:00PM Adam is scheduled to perform (I still think it will be later).

Adam is doing two sets of Meet & Greets -- one for the VIP ticketholders and one for the Fontainebleau VIPs. There are many hotel VIPs who want to meet him. He could take the stage a bit later than scheduled.

Everyone at the hotel is very nice. The security staff have not been given much info but the Beaulive staff seem to have everything in control.

The production team -- including the sound guy are local and were hired by the Fontainebleau. The guy handling the sound for the event has done every big name concert you can think of -- Britney, Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd, Back Street Boys & Nsync, etc. I am optimistic the sound will be good.

4:00PM EDT Update: The venue has been changed to the LIV Nightclub. The change was due to weather and they made the call before the soundcheck. Equipment is being moved now. Soundcheck will proceed as soon as everything is set up. Concert time remains the same.

Why would he want to sing it? Well, hypothetically speaking.....

1. I don't imagine he WANTED to sing WTFS either. But that is what the script called for. So, he sang it.

2. For some kind of special fund raiser. Some very rich opera fan is willing to donate a boatload of money to hear Adam sing opera.

3. Or, just the opposite. Some very rich opera fan makes the statement that pop singers cannot sing. It's all created in the studio. No pop singer could possibly legitimately sing an opera aria, and he is willing to bet mega-bucks on it. Adam proves him wrong and gets $$$ for his favorite charity.

4. Adam gets bored and is looking for a new challenge, vocally. He secretly wants to prove to the world that he IS the greatest singer of his generation, and, no matter that he doesn't care for opera himself, to some, opera is the pinnacle of singing prowess. He has already proven he can sing pop, rock, funk, blues, jazz, ballads, and musical theater. What's left?

I was intrigued by Cassie's list of what Adam can sing -- "pop, rock, funk, blues, jazz, ballads, and musical theater." And while I have no doubt Adam can sing opera and every genre on this list -- I would prefer to have him focus on blues and jazz if he gets bored with pop/rock vs. opera. He certainly has the vocal skills and the emotive power to tackle blues and I would love to have an album or live recorded concert of Adam singing either classic blues or jazz standards.

Maybe when he is 40.

I think the Thanksgiving episode of Glee was a good step for Adam. Yes, it would be great if NY was on for more of the show but heck, he stole the limelight for the time they were on. I don't see how they could put him any more front and center than they did for the allotted time. There are rumors that Demi wasn't feeling very well when they filmed so that could be why she's not used as much. But back to Adam, last episode was the singing showcase, this episode was the acting showcase and I, like others, breathed a sigh of relief. There is progression from Pretty Little Liars to the 1st Glee episode and a big jump to this latest episode.

Adam has "acted" forever but that was on a stage with a distant audience, just as he over dramatized his facial expressions when singing at first on Idol and had to learn to draw things more inward for the closeup cameras. Now he's got multiple takes, memorized lines, overhead boom mikes etc. His face is just so mobile, along with the rest of him, and everything is still a bit amped up which thankfully is perfect for Glee. He acts with his whole body, not just bouncing up and down but from side to side like he was skiing moguls in the dream and the full upper body eyeroll from behind the piano at the first gig. I'm anticipating the time when he can convey emotions with more refined control and I think he'll get there if he wants to do any drama vs the comedy.

There were quite a few Glee regulars who really liked the episode, as disjointed as some of us felt, they saw storyline movement. I guess it's like Cliff notes instead of a soap opera.

Now as to the tank top picture, you know this means that we will finally get the full tattoo reveal right?

Actually, I agree with you regarding preferred genres. TBH, I do not enjoy opera myself. I acknowledge the skill and artistry it takes to sing, and I do think it is technically the most difficult to do well, but when I hook my iPod up to my speaker system if I am not listening to Adam chances are I am listening to some smooth jazz or some torchy blues. That's also what I choose to sing myself. So, if you can convince him to make that CD or concert performance I'll chip in for the performance fee, for sure!

Totally agree on this! he got more screen time, more song, and more lines than Santana, who is one of the 3 regulars in NYC.
I would just like to see Ryan Murphy have a Dani and Elliott duet before they both leave. And, OFC, a Rachelle and Elliott duet would be nice too. If I had to choose between one of those duets though, I would choose the one with Demi! (Weird, huh?) And I mean a true duet, not just a few lines together in a group song.
Listened again to the iTunes DL of The Fox and am completely stumped on why they cut the Santana/Elliott part out? My guess (and it is just a hunch) is that it was too much Santana and not enough Rachel in The Fox.
