Wow! What an elaborate production! This is beautiful......love all the wildlife interaction with the gorgeous human! And from his/her screen name, the creator is a JB fan! Yay! New fans! Yes, very beautiful. Not sure I'm on board with Adam thinking it is sexy. Oh well. I had the same thought, Holst! But then I decided Adam and I have different definitions of "sexy"

Is this #4 for this season? I am daydreaming about what the numbers will look like for a Rachel/Starchild duet. I bet they will be through the roof. Hoping it is just around when the album or at least lead single comes out.

perhaps this? www.thefreedictionary.com/sexyArousing or tending to arouse sexual desire or interest. 2. Slang Highly appealing or interesting; attractive: "The recruiting brochures are getting sexier"
And this is why I used to collect dictionaries, before the internet. Language changes.

I love our discussions here too. But I admit it is a bit disconcerting when I watch/hear a performance that I think is wonderful and that moves me, and then someone more knowledgable about music than I am posts in no uncertain terms why that particular performance/show stinks. Do I go with the technical "flaws" or do I go with what I "hear" in my heart? I choose heart.

I'm going to comment on Q3's post on page 5 that includes numerous YT of Freddie singing a variety of songs. But am not repeating it here because it is so long.
Q3, I listened to the examples you gave. As you may know, I am not a Freddie expert and know the depth of the music like you do, as you pointed out recordings of vaudeville, light opera, etc. However, from the videos you cited, I pretty much hear the same Freddie across all the styles of music. Yes, he is singing songs of different styles, but I'm not really hearing him adapt much. And that's okay to have his same voice across all the styles. The pairing of him with Monserrat Caballe (opera singer) is odd to me. He cannot put on a operatic voice and she certainly cannot sound like the gospel stylings going on in the background. They are two distinctly different singers. Just because they sang some songs together does not mean they are effective at each other's genre's. I think neither of them does a credible job out of their own element. However, it was interesting to listen to, and I AM BEING EDUCATED BY YOU and others.
As you say, we all know how versatile Adam is. For me, the amazing thing about him is that he can change his voice to sing various styles. As mentioned just a few minutes ago, we all know Come to Me, Bend to Me and how beautiful that is for musical theater. Then there is My Conviction, which is hardly recognizable as Adam and has a touch of real operatic quality. Then there is the more gritty Adam that many here love. Was it By the Rules or Map that appeared one day and a bunch of were questioning whether it was Adam or not--it sounded different.
One thing I have learned over the last few years is that, much to my dismay, many people judge singing ability much differently than I do. B-| It never occurred to me to consider their expressive show of emotion as the top indicator for quality. Although I might enjoy the performance of someone with a raggedy, gravely voice, who sings with emotion, I would never call them a great singer. I think the expressive feature of a performance has become much more important to current listeners of popular music--since the advent of rock. Before that, singers were mostly expected to have good pitch, vibrato, and an open tone quality (trained or not), along with expressivity. Take a look at Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Ella Fitzgerald, and so many from 1900-1950's. When I have my music classes at school listen to singers like that, they gets giggly because they've never heard anything like it. Taylor Swift is a great singer to many of them.
Gotta go. Got music to practice, lessons to teach, and rehearsal to attend. Later, all.
