Nobody is considered legendary after five years. Nobody. Freddie may have had more recognition at that point in his career, but he wasn't considered legendary. And let's be honest-- dying young always helps cement a "legendary" status. It doesn't make sense to compare the career of someone who came into the public's awareness in 2008 and someone who began his career over forty years ago and has been dead for twenty-three years.

He seems almost naked without the new tattoo, but love the makeup, love the hair, and of course the intensity ... classical "Concert Adam" ... though I never could decide if I liked that red backed vest ... Forgive my rambling, I'll be getting a new appartment in 2014 and am starting to decorate in my mind ... what do i really NEED on my walls???? - decisions ... decisions ....

I don't think anything - from football and baseball, to NASCAR and music can be fairly or accurately compared to the same thing of 30-40-50 years ago. Too much has changed. Adam is making his way in a whole new world of music. To my mind, no such comparisons are legitimate. It always makes for good and interesting conversation, but that's about it, IMO. I agree with this - and, of course, even Brian and Roger too have themselves changed. For me, what Adam does with them is really great, exciting, and . . . moving. It's about Queen and Adam and loss and progress and life and death and generations and legacy. And, to not get "too deep," fun: Adam wearing Elmo arm in arm with Brian May - priceless. I scroll through the comparison/competition posts, myself. Freddie, Adam - both unique, talented, charismatic, etc. But I didn't follow Freddie down a rabbit hole - I followed Adam and I'm still following four years later(!) so the whole floor-wiping (!?) thing does NOT compute to me (but I didn't read that In context, scrolling and all . . . )

Well we have to agree to disagree. Songwriting comes into play because I think of the overall package and of staying power and of recogntion. Placido Domingo has worlds of classical pieces written by some of the greatest composers in the world to sing. Adam has been getting mostly (and don't flay me here) forgettable electro pop. Don't get me wrong, they are sometimes catchy, and they are sometimes fun but if anyone else sang them, would you guys really dig the songs? He's not getting great songs to sing. Freddie being a songwriter takes care of that distinction. Not that Freddie didn't cover anyone - The Great Pretender was friggin awesome. His work on Time was phenomenal...but Freddie didn't have to rely on someone to write him a song that will be remembered. He did it himself. To me that's partially where the discussion changes. It's not just Adam vs Freddie as a singer but it's Adam vs Freddie as a musical icon. As far as pure singing, see it still is subjective as I think that Freddie is still a superior singer. Adam has a better high range, although Freddie has more of a range. I believe Freddie is also more powerful overall, and I think Freddie has a more crisp, cutting tone. Again subjective though. I don't mind you thinking otherwise
From yesterday's posts and today's, IMHO, I gathered people with classical background or who loves classical music will prefer Adam's voice. Because when he sings he gives that classical touch to it, especially when he sings ballad. And off course his technique which I won't argue. For me, I love big voice or power house voice classical or not.
