I haven't heard/seen a Freddie performance of WWTLF where he goes for the high glory note at the end. It is not in the original studio recording either (altho' Freddie hits a briefer high D5 on "Who wants to LOVE forever"). Perhaps that D5 on "OURS" is an Adam addition?
BTW, in live performance, Freddie and Queen have transposed the key to one full note lower than the studio key. Freddie also takes the melody at "Who wants to live FOREVER" down on the word "forever" instead of up. It is 1986, and the damage to his vocal cords is such that he is singing alternate melody/harmony lines and lowering keys. Not that there is anything wrong with that. It is still a moving performance.

Did Freddie take the high note at the end of WWTLF in any of his performances? Anyone know? Freddie sang WWTLF with a D5 in Stockholm 1986. (From 1982-1985 he dropped the high note on most performances because he was having vocal issues.) In the mid 80's he usually used "Impromptu" as his vocal showcase song. Adam seem to have changed it a bit. ETA: I actually think Brian and Adam may have changed the song a bit and added that end note. The song (at least according to the sheet music) has a two octave range, so it can be sung in a key that does not require these high notes. ETA: Just saw Cassie's post. ** Here is "Impromptu" from 1986. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv8vQbP_Ek0

And, frankly, it is quite flat. But it is not at the final "OURS!", it is the earlier brief high note.

G5, is what my online piano here tells me. Maybe flat, but certainly sustained, lol.
