We have a more recent figure than 8/2012 because Trespassing made the Top 200 albums of SoundScan. 1 2/30/12 - Adam Lambert - Trespassing 173,639 (Soundscan #179)
Also, I remember Mansfield or some Idol journalist having an update in early 2013 that had it over 180K in the US. I can't find that though. Still looking for it! According to this article by Shirley, it is 185K. www.hollywoodreporter.com/idol-worship/adam-lamberts-next-album-all-covers-581758OK -- I had 185K in my head but could not find it last night! Thanks! So it is probably near 200K in the US now.

So, if he sold 185K prior to Glee, then he may be by now working down his last 10K prior to selling 200K in the US. And 100 - 120K outside of US does sound about right as well, which means those dimwits at RCA are actually making money off of him, and that is without support. Just think, what this album could have done, with proper support. grrrrr...
Based on what you wrote yesterday, I have changed my mind a bit. I think it is probably right that the core Glambert group who buys 3-10 albums, is probably about 2000 people in US and 1000 additionally world wide. So, that makes 10,000-15,000 albums here. In that first week, he sold 77 K in US sales. So, the other 65K were bought by casual fans, one at a time. That is a solid fan base to count on, when it comes to roll-out time. I probably understated things yesterday, then. I am quite impressed to hear that TSP is approaching 200K in US alone. That is a good number for a lousily supported album.
Re yesterday's discussion pop vs rock, which originated from a sentence I probably phrased too quickly and not carefully enough: I don't think, that with Adam it is really about genre, but rather about vocals. Of course, there are lots of different opinions out there, on what fans want, but if there are two main ideas that I have consistently heard, they are the following:
Fans want him to sing those beautiful lines, that only he can sing.
They also want to hear less production overall.
The overall classifications of genre have become so blurred, and the definition of pop so wide, that it is difficult to even use them, and not get misunderstandings. There is a huge difference, between pop a la Ke$ha or KP, and pop a la Adele. There is a reason, Adele became so popular, even though she sings about one subject only, and her vocals are alright, but nowhere near the Adam league. That reason is, a) there is nothing else like this out there, and b) the vocals are in the foreground, and c)it skirts this line between pop and ballad beautifully and the beat sounds natural and strong, but not oppressive.
Now Adam would sing about other topics (thankfully) and lean a bit more into the rock vocal arsenal on some songs, and go more soft on others, I think. But from a production standpoint, this is the kind of music that would sell great for him, imo. And he could tap into a much larger market than his core fan base.
But, a) I don't know, if this is what he wants, and b) if he can find songwriting support that can execute on such a vision.
I guess, we all agree, that he needs to get away from the pop factory that works for KP and others, but does not really work for him (bye-bye Dr Luke). The fact that he is listening to a lot of alternative music, gives me hope that he tries to find both ideas as well as songwriting support in those areas, whatever this genre 'alternative' is anyways.

IMHO,Adam's Trespassing sales don't sound so bad when comparing them to the low sales the music industry is having lately.. of course I'm not counting Beyonce and the super earners. So if he sold 300,000 to 320,0000 worldwide, well not great, but how many other Cds are flying off the shelves today?? I agree with melliemom - the Trespassing sales don't sound bad to me too. And with all Adam's popularity as an international star (and he IS known internationally), with quite succesful WAG tour, Glee and all the events we could see Adam at during last two years - and he still sings Trapassing songs there I don't get why Trespassing is considered as 'a tanked album'. Source: "Which proves my point without Queen there would have been a snowball chance in hell Adam would have been invited with an Album that tanked. " Read more: adamtopia.com/search/results?what_at_least_one=tanked&who_only_made_by=0&display_as=0#ixzz2nZGFkjYeNot as successful as it deserved - yes! But tanked???

According to this article by Shirley, it is 185K. www.hollywoodreporter.com/idol-worship/adam-lamberts-next-album-all-covers-581758So, early part of 2013 averages to just about 500 a week. If we use the same figures for latter part of 2013 (which could be a few hundred higher a week, due to higher iTunes rankings) he is at about 198K+ in the US. So guessing 300K worldwide, IMO, would not be an outlandish guess. If we use FYE comparisons, the total sales is 2 million worldwide, so that means double the US sales to get WW sales. In that case, closer to 400K worldwide is a possibility! Oh, and the Sara Bareilles album nominated for album of the year for the Grammies this year has sold just over 200K. Adam's sales are very respecutful, which is why I have always maintained Adam was never "dropped." Why drop him when the majority of artists are selling about that or even less? IMO, Adam wanted out of RCA and DMG worked whatever loophole they could find to do it! He "walked away" just as Shirley's article said.

I have a question about Glee, since my only experience with it comes from watching the first three seasons over the last few weeks When they return in Spring, will there be an episode every week until the end of the season, or do they have another break somewhere? I don't think anyone really knows what the network will do. My guess is that Glee will play till end of season once it starts up again. But it could be preempted if something like an important sporting event or presidential speech came along. You are correct, but I do not think even President Obama would get between Adam Lambert and his fans!! So I would scratch "presidential speech" off that list.

About the only thing that disrupts spring programming is March Madness. I can't remember which networks carry all the tournaments.
