I agree, rihannsu! This is about living in a healthier manner. And I also splurge when I want to, because for me, feeling deprived triggers eating binges. Once I start bingeing, I have great difficulty stopping. Also working hard to increase my activity level. Really is about life changes for me. Happy to report I am back in better control, and lost 1.8 lbs this week (which is what I gained last week). Doesn't hurt to have an Adam concert to look forward to!!!

Some really nice comments this week. I could especially relate to kay and rihannsu. When I stopped eating meat in 2000 it totally changed what I ate. No more fast food was the biggest change since no longer eat burgers which was my favorite item. I don't think of it as dieting either. Just changing what I am eating. I have been accountable to myself in this 12 weeks since I started on the thread which has helped by making me face the scale each week. Today only lost .2 pounds but as I said before, I am happy to just stay or have a small loss. I was lucky in that with eating a bag of jelly beans this week, I did not gain. I still have binge foods....mostly sweets...but am finding that I no longer crave 'some' of my previous binge items.

For me what is making the key difference is that I made only 1 hard and fast commitment and that was to record everything honestly on Myfitnesspal. This makes me totally aware of what I am eating and how much. Everything else really just evolves naturally from that because once you are truly aware of your diet and start seeing the reality of the numbers and how what you eat affects you, you will find yourself making smarter choices just because you're actually thinking about it and not just mindlessly eating. With the smartphone app it's even better because when you go for something if you go to record it first before you even eat it you might even find yourself changing your mind and decide you don't really want it that bad after all. The whole first month my entire diet change revolved simply around making different decision due to being more aware and I lost about 10 lbs just with that.

Great thread this last week! I really like your last comment Rihannsu, it's very true. For me, I don't record what I eat, but am very aware of what I can allow myself and what I shouldn't have. Sweets for me are the major issue, especially chocolate which is my big comfort food. I find if I can stop myself from starting to have some I'm ok, but once I do have some it's harder to just have a little bit. So I try to stay busy as it limits the time I might not be able to resist the temptation. I do however not really deprive myself of anything, just, as you say too, make smart choices and know if you go overboard one day, dial it back the next day.
Having said all that, had a frustrating week, as what I think is a pinched nerve in my back, prevented me from walking all week. Had some terrible nights when I didn't know how to get to sleep as I couldn't lay any which way. It's slowly getting easier but still feels like something's caught in there. We have a backswing and tried that too without any noticeable results, so going to get some physio today. I'm so used to walking now on a regular basis, I really miss that exercise, which is a good thing that I've gotten so used to it. Summer time will be the challenge for me with walking as my work will interfere. In spite of not walking I did lose 1.6 lbs. so I'm getting back on track in that aspect.
Chapf! I saw that you're coming to Vancouver! Hope there will be a get-together so we can meet. I know I'll be arriving on Friday night with MsZue and we'll have Saturday to play! I love your little guy with the hand up, he's so excited, LOL!

The only way I can get my hubby to come for this concert is "vacation in Vancouver". We will plan the whole trip out when closer to leaving.(driving from San Diego)

(She went to 2013 thread) Haha!!! Too cute!!!! What? LOL It was early this morning just before I hustled out the door because I forgot to put up the Wednesday post last night. I guess I'll rearrange my bookmarks so that blurry eyes don't get mixed up again.

So, I managed to be back down a pound this week. Not sure it will last if I don't start getting up off my butt. LOL

Had a backache most of the week so little to no exercise. Thankfully it has almost healed.
Haven't kept track of weight at all, feeling very zen (new pair of jeans might help that). I indulged a lot but in some ways I think I have done better than ever. Major temptations await the rest of this week though....
