I posted that beautiful Pentatonix YT on my Facebook page. My former voice teacher commented: "wonderful singing. Can't understand the text." hahaha. You get a singer with formal, classically based training (or at least one who is also a teacher), and they 1) automatically evaluate other singers, and 2)have many of the same criteria for a successful performance. We may say that a "great" singer or the "best" singer is a matter of personal preference, but there are definitely traits that trained singers respect and value. If you were to poll a number of them, I believe the list of characteristics of a great singer would be very similar. In this case, clear articulation. So true. I think PTX was purposely relaxing their articulation to go with the mood of the song. Adam did that on Broken Open. I still have no idea what some of the words are and haven't bothered to look them up. |

I wonder what would be the cure for curse-word constipation. Alcohol? Pot? Sex? Hoppers lollies? Adam? All good things, if you ask me. Better than the regular anti-constipation stuff for sure:)))

Cassie...you are no doubt correct but I had to chuckle....this is one of the clearest examples of a tautological argument yet!! After all, your voice teacher taught you to critique and evaluate music ... so when you and she 'agree' on what to look for, that is indicative of a probable 'universal' list of criteria.....ooooo.... Sorry but that one jumped out and bit me..... That said, I also really get frustrated when I can't understand the lyrics. It is so common a problem now that most video's come with a Lyric rendition. Mind you, we have had full on day long discussions deciphering Adam's lyrics too..... I'm not sure the purpose of the lyric videos is to spell out all the lyrics that listeners can't understand anymore than printing the lyrics on album covers is. A lot of people like to sing along with the lyric videos. My students at school do that all the time. |

True....but I hate teasing with passion....and I do think we've been conditioned to NOT have adam news from her.... so, for me it's hard to get energized by her vague twats.... I still can't understand all the secrecy.. unless there just isn't anything to relate yet. Adam said he wasn't ready to talk about the possibility of a new label.. we know about the TV appearances. Queen is on mini tour with lady singer,so nothing to say.. Album not ready.. so maybe no news.... Make me wrong please.It's just that Adam said this year is going to be GREAT.. got our juices flowing. My DH said," if Adam is happy ,why can't you be happy.." I guess he has a good point. Drats.... Mellie, I think it was just Brian touring with the lady singer, not Queen. Well done on the 5 million effort! |
