When someone comes to the board angsting about Adam's career, or expressing unhappiness that things aren't happening according to what we fans might want, I don't think they get blowback simply for saying negative things. Personally, I don't mind negativity as long as the person expressing it makes it clear that this is just how they're feeling right now. But I do start eye rolling if someone portrays the thing that Adam did or didn't do as dooming him (and the fandom) for all eternity. In life, there are things we can directly control, and the things we don't/can't control. We don't control Adam's career, but we each have full control over how we respond to what's going on with him. I try to live by a piece of wisdom from Lord of the Rings, expressed in this conversation between Frodo and Gandalf: Frodo: I wish none of this had happened. Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. You quoted LOTR?!?! I think I love you!! and very apropos, I might add.....

I'm mostly a lurker, but I do enjoy visiting this site on a daily basis as I share a common passion for AFL. Not really worried about Adam - he's already a successful star. Maybe not a megastar, but perhaps that is not a measure of success. His look, performances, decisions are his, not mine to worry about. I am just along for the ride. What really upsets me is coming to this site that I enjoy so much and reading the angst and disappointment that some Atoppers are experiencing. I don't know anyone on this site personally, but I feel I do know and appreciate so many of you. I love all your contributions and efforts to make this site so informative , funny and thoroughly enjoyable. Hate to see anyone feel they need to leave.

I see we are letting out our inner Eeyore. Even Winnie the Pooh needed an Eeyore to find balance in the Hundred Acre Woods. I don't think he had a bordello though. Having just finished reading the various volumes of Winnie-the-Pooh as bedtime stories over the past few weeks, I'm having a hard time envisioning Eeyore in a bordello. Either he's either just going to be lying legs up in the air in a mopey/resigned state waiting to see if anyone will notice/service him, or he'll be sulking around various garish rooms saying at random moments: "Don't mind me, its just another case of VD. Nobody else seems to be bothered. My tail's simply falling off again..." You made me laugh out loud.

The key words for me are "feeling right now". That does make a difference, and is sometimes just someone wanting to be talked down from a ledge. (Having been on that ledge once or twice myself.) And as a fellow LOTR/Tolkien fan, I high-five you for your quote! o/ \o

VIvlite, I had to laugh at your comment: Whose gonna run it??? Anyone sane here???
Everytime my DH comes into the room and sees me on the computer checking on Atop for AFL info, he says, "I think you're all nuts." Could it be?????? Naw! Those crazy people who spend thousands to sit outside in a frigid stadium to watch a football game are the crazy ones.

There was once a "dark" thread where you could express your angst and concerns, a place to get it off your chest without worry of reprisal. Maybe time to revive it?

For clarification, I was not referring to any one person in particular in my previous post. It was a general statement of my own personal feelings and observations over the time I have been viewing this fandom and this forum. Anyone who took my words personally or assumed they were specifically aimed at them are mistaken and perhaps internalizing altercations/interactions they have had with someone else and there is nothing I can do about that.
That said, I follow Adam because it brings me enjoyment. I don't second guess him or the decisions he makes about his career because I don't have a personal investment in his success other than the more successful he is the more I get to see him and enjoy his work.

Methinks you have a point about the football and frigid..sounds like a soap opera, doesn't it..'The Football and The Frigid'. Funny thing, is no one responded to 'is anyone sane'..ha! Guess we'll have to find mediators. (Rotza ruck..) Glad to see you posting, Nannygoat..come around more often, eh? You have a kind sensibility about you.
