I watched Idol last week to be ready for this week and the "girls" were better, and I liked a couple singers much more. I think the producers did them no favors. They made them nervous, made them uncertain, and then threw them on the big stage for the first time. That said, I just did not hear the basic vocal talent I expect to hear on Idol -- even in the video clips before the live performance. That has little to do with nerves. ** The Voice has experienced vocalists like Judith Hill but also had Danielle Bradberry and many other teens with very little experience. ** And the song choices were bad for the most part. Picking Adele? Seriously? The only song choice I thought was brilliant was M K's. And the song choice made that performance. And, The ten last night were not the best ten out of the 15. Kenzie was great.... did not get to sing! Brandy is a good country singer..... did not sing! A few that did sing, let their nerves get the best of them. But I would have definitely not chosen Kristen, Marielle, or Malaya! It was obvious, the producers were "casting personalities" and not choosing the 10 best! :(

XF did, but The Voice does not. Their contestants are scouted. There is no audition process, like Idol.

A very quick Google search brought up this..... so they do hold auditions for the Voice.
Auditions for a NEW SEASON of The Voice: Los Angeles, CA - December 14-15, 2013 Philadelphia, PA - January 11-12, 2014 Chicago, IL - January 18-19, 2014 Nashville, TN - February 1-2, 2014
...... the same search however brought up complaints galore from people who had auditioned and heard while in line that there are very few spots left open on the show because so many are filled by scouted, experienced contestants.

XF did, but The Voice does not. Their contestants are scouted. There is no audition process, like Idol. Oh mighty Queen of all things Idol -- you are not correct about The Voice. They hold auditions. A friend of mine made to through most of the way, but not quite. Here are The Voice audition instructions. www.nbcthevoice.com/how-to-audition/audition-process.phpYou can also submit a video audition: www.nbcthevoice.com/how-to-audition/video-submissions.phpThey do scout in addition to the auditions but all Voice contestants have to go through the producer audition rounds. And they do admit they are CASTING a program. But they are interested in finding great singers. *** And they are serious auditions. This is totally different than Idol auditions. They chuck people out who arrive in costumes. And stop people who cannot sing and ask them to leave immediately. ETA: Back to Idol -- I am still mad that two singers I really liked last week did not even get to sing on Idol. I guess they do not really care about singers and thing that is not important to being a pop superstar. But it is sad that the show that found Kelly, Carrie, Daughtry, JHud, Adam, Fantasia, even Clay and so many other great vocalists has lost its core essence and they don't even seem to know it. I mean Alison is 60 feet away from those girls and 1,000 times better!
