Doesn't Adam say "spread it" with a mischievous grin at the end of the second video? (yes, he approves the message......) I think you are right! The fact it was deleted means nothing IMO as he knows it would be picked up and saved as soon as it hit Instagram. and

Q3.... Totally agree with your previous post as well as this one. These shows are about "VOICE", and the IT factor. I did not see, as yet, one female with both... the IT factor ...and voice. Sure I appreciated two voices, Emily and MK. On The Voice show ...with no mentoring ....I am drawn in by the VOICE and performance by many. Many competitors on these shows "grow us" into "their --IT Factor--" as the competition progresses, and their confidence and a repertoire opens our belief in their abilities. BUT none of these females really "grabbed me" like some past season's AI early performers. My thinking is bang on with our thoughts--- per an except from my post last night.
"With so many singing out of tune .... I chalk it up to inexperience and nerves. No comparison to voices on The Voice ( experience and age can make a difference when put through the ringer in a competition like this) I still cannot believe these voices are the best of thousands of females who auditioned."
It is the judges and producers credibility on the line...WHY...WHY...WHY these voices.... ....and it may just break this AI institution. Well ...it is up to the men tonight to revive my spirit and prove me wrong! I was under the impression that the "VOICE" invited their contestants to audition from video submissions..and/ Or scouting .. Giving failed acts and singers a second chance And then the failure of the winners or top placers was explained away with the statement from (Adam Lavigne) it was up to the contestant to take the exposure further and run with it. Where idol has always been giving the impression of finding the undiscovered.. Eta.. I do not know what happened to my post..trying again.. I have always believed the tour has played a huge part in the success of AI contestants.. Randy said he thought that the girls were slightly stronger than the boys. That does not bode well for "reviving our spirits" or proving you wrong. As for chalking up the girls' poor performances to inexperience and nerves, how is it different than the previous twelve seasons of Idol? You are right, there were tens of thousands of females auditioning. Idol CAST these gals above much better, more experienced singers. Their choice. But, perhaps because The Voice casts better singers to begin with, this choice could backfire on them. Folks may now expect better voices. I just don't see that last nights' contestants would make anyone want to watch every week or pick up a phone and vote. ETA: Or, what nica just said above me.

Randy said he thought that the girls were slightly stronger than the boys. That does not bode well for "reviving our spirits" or proving you wrong. I meant it to be....sarcastic...the girls did not do it for me...so how likely are the boys going to change my opinion. I said last night in my post ...I will put my PVR on. (well I may watch it live too.... just so I can see Adam.. As for chalking up the girls' poor performances to inexperience and nerves, how is it different than the previous twelve seasons of Idol? Well you got me on my choice of words here for sure. You are right they all have to deal with nerves...but to clarify my thoughts---age/experience are related ..the older some serious artists are ...they have been singing in bars/clubs/with bands and as an example--- Adam at 27 had stage experience, musicals, clubs. He had six more years of exposure to singing under pressure, than most of these gals. The Scotty's etc had the Voice and country leaning so the odd bobbles were "more allowed". ( and that is a topic not relevant here)You are right, there were tens of thousands of females auditioning. Yup... We are both on the same page with these thoughts. ETA: Or, what nica just said above me. I am happy/thrilled for Adam's exposure on AI! It is just hard to see a program that brought Adam to me .... "tanking" when all they needed to do was ask the great minds at Adamtopia how to right the ship with a few tweeks, and the right contestants! Thank Golly at least for the 50 vote limit! About time! We now have proof that they had that unlimited voting for the benefit of AT&T. AT&T drops their Idol sponsorship and the unlimited text voting is gone. Big surprise. NOT! Too bad AT&T didn't drop Idol in 2008. ETA: And if unlimited voting didn't effect the results, why bother with putting a limit in place? I never bought into the conspiracy theories about Adam vs. Kris -- I am convinced Kris really won because he was more in line with circa 2009 conservative Americans who watch Idol. But I do believe a small number of heavily committed power voters had the capacity to change the outcome of Idol with the unlimited text voting and that this had to effect the outcome of some early rounds when the vote totals were much lower.

Cassie, it is my understanding that this is the first time the contestants did not even know if they were singing or eliminated until one minute ahead of time. They were very nervous about being chosen, and then they had to run (literally) through a gaggle of people cheering them on and onto the stage while their Rush Week package was being shown. They didn't have time to get themselves collected and may have been breathing harder from the run. In the past all the contestants sang, then they sat on pins and needles to find out if they were cut. I made a point of watching the videos of last week's shows so I'd know a bit of what was going on. When they showed bits of the singers during Hollywood Week, they seemed much stronger to me than they were last night. This new format might be too intense for inexperienced singers. They seem so much younger this year. I have preferred The Voice since it first started because most of the singers are experienced and older.

The whole disappeared I was under the impression when THE VOICE started.. They invited/and scouted for the contestants.. From video submissions.. So their contestants are not newbies..but acts looking for and being given a second chance.. A statement from one of the judges ( probably Levene) was what the contestant does after the show with the opportunity was up to them. Idol has always been about the undiscovered regardless if any of them had been in the business..or trying.. I have always believed the success of AI finalists has been partly because of the length of the show (to cement the singers in our consciousness/lives) and the tour The Voice is not really on that long is it? Or each singer doesn't get as much exposure..and there seems to be so much attention paid to the judges that the winners get kinda left in the dust sometimes.

I watched Idol last week to be ready for this week and the "girls" were better, and I liked a couple singers much more. I think the producers did them no favors. They made them nervous, made them uncertain, and then threw them on the big stage for the first time.
That said, I just did not hear the basic vocal talent I expect to hear on Idol -- even in the video clips before the live performance. That has little to do with nerves.
**
The Voice has experienced vocalists like Judith Hill but also had Danielle Bradberry and many other teens with very little experience.
**
And the song choices were bad for the most part. Picking Adele? Seriously?
The only song choice I thought was brilliant was M K's. And the song choice made that performance.

The Voice (like Idol) holds auditions well in advance of casting the show. But Season 6 of The Voice premieres on Feb 24th. The rules for both shows are the same -- you cannot have a current recording contract. The Voice does not have an upper age limit, but both shows are open to 15 year olds. Idol seems to have made a choice this year to focus on young, very inexperienced performers. That was not the case for past seasons --- like when Adam made it. Also, on Idol personality and style can go a long way, not so much on The Voice -- you have to be able to sing to get into the running. Sorry, but a few of last night's contestants had limited vocal skills.
