Cassie
So agree with your post. Watched first season and then couldn't handle all the drama for the occasional well sung cover song. Am only back this season for Adam and I loved his 6 minutes of "air" time in this show but also took a re-look at "Santana" and was impressed at her growth over the years.
I can handle them breaking into song when and wherever, but would love to see better writing/plot line to lead into the song...
Can't wait for more and more ADAM!

The ratings aren't good.. but IMHO Glee has been awful until Adam..It seems to be revitalized.. The competition may be too much for Glee ,nevertheless ,I think their audience will increase & Maybe some will go from the Voice to Glee and back..The time slot is a tough one for any show going up against The Voice. I watched the first season. Liked it initially but thought it devolved into a soap opera quickly. Not interested. Coming back to watch this season for Adam, it seems like a ridiculous show. And that's coming from me, who saw my first musical at the age of six, and can suspend my disbelief with the best of them. Perhaps because it is television, not a stage production, I expect a bit more realism? Or perhaps it is because Glee is not sure which way it wants to play things: campy, OTT and absurd; or sincere and relevant. My problem is that, while I watch, I keep being dumped out of the scene with protesting thoughts of "Give me a break! That would NEVER happen." Not the launching into a production number in music stores and high school halls. I expect that with musicals. It's that some of the characters and plot lines are totally unbelieveable. My other problem is that they have created so many characters and so many plot lines that none get developed to any degree. Watching a scene, it feels like they are showing highlights or a recap or a quick summary, rather than the fleshed out story line. Combining this lack of character/plot development with the unbelieveable characters and plots and I cannot see how it ever got so popular in the first place. Well, I guess I can, considering the unreality and banality of some of the "reality shows" on TV. In any case, Adam was stellar, and was able to show lots of potential if any producers and directors were watching. Hope the offers come pouring in, regardless of the viewing numbers. I hear what you are saying Cassie but seriously....what is there in most of television that actually has any sense of 'realness'...or even verisimilitude within the plot. I find Glee every bit as 'real' as the bulk of the programming out there....especially the ones that try and make us think that what they are showing is the way life really is...all those nasty cop and detective dramas...especially when the lead characters have almost every crime they investigate relates back to something in their 'real, past' lives....that is a full on 'give me a break' moment for me.... Even good old Shakespeare had characters meet and fall in love within 10 minutes of dialogue....sheesh One of the things I really like about the latest craze of television watching...the binge watch..[and especially when a whole series is dropped at one time as with Netflix offerings] is that for the first time outside of a book, full on complex character development can occur...and morph. All that is to say that I don't think Glee is really that more fantastical than the huge bulk of what we view on television...good and or bad. It is just that some of it tries harder to convince us that it is 'real' and some does not really even try! I am really sorry that we adults seem to have lost our love for musicals for the most part....I really liked Smash and thought they did a good job. For a first full on acting gig I think Katherine McPhee did well...I would love to see Adam with a part in a show like that....be still my fanstan heart :-)

f yeah, glee club @fyeahgleeclub [5x09 Ratings] "Glee" hit a series-low 2.2/ 3 www.tvmediainsights.com/highlights/41395/wednesday-february-26-NETWORK Tuesday 2/25/14 Metered Market Ratings Respectable Sampling for “About a Boy” and “Growing Up Fisher” Encores on NBC; “Mind Games” DOA on ABC Household Rating/Share CBS 8.9/14 NBC 5.6/ 9 ABC 4.9/ 8 Fox 2.2/ 3 CW 1.4/ 2 -Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Tuesday 2/26/13: NBC: +124, CW: +56, ABC: +14, CBS: -12, Fox: -21 wow... :( That is better than I expected GLEE to do in the overnight. It was up directly against The Voice and NCIS. The TOP 2 non-sports programs on TV. And The Voice is the new Death Star in the ratings. *** the gory details *** NCIS opened the Eye’s night with 16.9 million total viewers and a 2.6 demo rating, down 13 and 16 percent from its last fresh outing. NBC’s The Voice delivered 13 mil and a 3.7, down sharply from its Monday premiere (15.9 mil/4.7) [The Voice is also down sharply from Season 5: "The Blind Auditions, Part 2" September 24, 2013: #502 Tuesday 8:00 p.m. 14.35 4.7. The Voice is UP from the last Spring season 4, The Voice show #2 -- but not in the demo! Looks like it is starting to shift older. #402 "The Blind Auditions, Part 2" March 26, 2013 402 Tuesday 8:00pm 12.4 4.1] *** Fox’s Glee reclaimed its Tuesday home with 2.9 mil and a 1.2, down in audience but up a tenth in the demo from its winter finale (3.3 mil/1.1). The network really only cares about the demo ratings -- because that is what ad rates are based on. And a 1.2 against The Voice is not bad. The Voice is the new death-star. *** Glee should go up over the course of the week. Wait until the ratings are +7 (days) so that the on demand and DVR viewing is included. BUT looks like FOX's gamble paid off -- they put it against the #1 show in the demo and actually held the Glee audience completely. BUT....GLEE did not come close to what FOX got a year ago at 8PM Tuesday March 26, 2013 with Hell's Kitchen. FOX: "Hell's Kitchen" (4.6 million, 2.8/5) [Fast Nationals -- NOT FINAL RATINGS for comparison purposes.] *** In any case, wait until the final ratings come in and I bet Glee goes up a bit.

Glee Films an Emotional Candlelight Vigil For . . . Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, and Darren Criss joined their Glee castmates to film an emotional candlelight vigil scene in LA on Tuesday. Lea, Chris, and Chord Overstreet sang on a sidewalk while holding small candles. Earlier in the day, Chris and Darren filmed a daytime scene on the same sidewalk, with an injured-looking Chris placing a white flower on a makeshift memorial that featured rainbow flags and "Get Well" balloons. The scene was most likely not for the late Cory Monteith's character, Finn, as the LGBT-friendly flags hint that it was possibly for a gay character, like Adam Lambert's Elliot.------------------------------- The vigil could also be for Dani as she is definitely LGBT on Glee. They need to explain her departure from the show also. And I don't see Santana in the vigil scene. They have not confirmed Elliot's orientation one way or the other on Glee. I like the going away to be a rock star scenario better for Elliot. ETA - In the video at the 1st link above, at 2:53 they show a picture of the guy the vigil is about. Definitely not Elliot. Looks more like Cory to me, but not sure as the face seem rounder than the pics I've seen of Cory.

I AM JUST FEELING ALL WEEPY BECAUSE HE HAS NEVER EVER LOOKED MORE IMPOSSIBLY BEAUTIFUL THAN HE DID ON THIS FRENEMIES EPISODE. AND I'M FEELING TOTALLY WEEPY BECAUSE GLEE WAS MY ONLY HOPE FOR A MELVIN-LESS FACE, AND NOW THERE'S NO HOPE FOR THAT, EITHER.

What am I going to do now, should I delete it? And how did they know, for crying out loud? I'm freaking out now while she's sleeping like a baby in Canada;/ No need to freak out. I think you get 3 strikes before they ban you from YouTube. (I did get banned, many moons ago. That's why I'm now heartfrumps on YouTube.) I would pull the YouTube and be very careful not to upload copyrighted vids, in the future. Thanks, 4Ms! I deleted the video. When they ban you from YouTube, what happens to your videos? I really have important stuff there. And sorry for the freak out, everyone. Although you should have gotten used to my drama queen moments by now:)))

Mellie I love your positive attitude and know nothing about ratings and numbers.....but aren't these ratings still "abysmal"? Isn't Fox considered as one of the major networks? Looks like Fox needs a major infusion of something....what, I don't know. Wonder if this is a cycle thing or just bad programming. JMHO FOX only has 2 hours of primetime network programming a night. They relied on sports and reality TV to fill most of that and have no competency at creating scripted TV that will generate ratings. Idol filled 2 nights for half a year, but peaked in 2006 and they never found a replacement. XFactor was supposed to solve their Fall scheduling problems but was off track from the start. To illustrate, with seven days' worth of DVR usage included in their season averages, here are the most-watched shows of the 2012-13 TV season. Fox shows in bold. 1. NCIS CBS 21.6 million 2. SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL NBC 21.0 million 3. THE BIG BANG THEORY CBS 19.0 million 4. NCIS: LOS ANGELES CBS 17.5 million 5. PERSON OF INTEREST CBS 16.2 million 6. AMERICAN IDOL (Wednesday) Fox 15.1 million7. DANCING WITH THE STARS (Monday) ABC 15.0 million 8. AMERICAN IDOL (Thursday) Fox 14.8 million9. THE VOICE (Monday) NBC 14.4 million* 10. THE WALKING DEAD AMC 14.3 million 11. DANCING WITH THE STARS (Tuesday) ABC 14.0 million 12. TWO AND A HALF MEN CBS 13.9 million 13. THE VOICE (Tuesday) NBC 13.5 million 14. BLUE BLOODS CBS 13.3 million 15. ELEMENTARY CBS 13.0 million 16. MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL ESPN 12.9 million 17. MODERN FAMILY ABC 12.7 million 18. CRIMINAL MINDS CBS 12.6 million 19. THE OT Fox 12.5 million [NFL football post-game show] 20. CASTLE ABC 12.5 million 21 DUCK DYNASTY A&E 12.4 million t. 60 MINUTES CBS 12.4 million 23. VEGAS CBS 12.0 million 24. THE FOLLOWING Fox 11.9 million [this show has now "died" and has a total audience of <5 million, 1.6 in the Demo]
