Adam Lambert reveals shock over selling out Madison Square Garden with Queen
Vocal sensation Adam Lambert is set to hit the road as the frontman of iconic rock group Queen throughout north America later this year and he admitted that he can't believe how well tickets for the shows have been selling. The 'Trespassing' superstar is set to front the band again for another run of dates that will kick off on June 19 at the United Center in Chicago, and he took to his official Twitter page over the weekend to reveal his shock at the fact that the Madison Square Garden date in New York City has already sold out: "We sold out Madison Square Garden!?! Woah!! @queenwillrock." Lambert returned to the social networking site in the early hours of this morning (March 17) and told his followers that he's irritated at how many people misspell Freddie Mercury's first name, adding: "It's FREDDIE people. Not FREDDY. Sorry... But.... Get it right!" Meanwhile, he has recently been in the studio working on new material and teased that his new songs will surprise people: "Yes! My new music is gonna blow your minds!!! Killin the Studio!!!" Q3, thanks for posting the EW interview. Maybe the answer is in there.
For tours certainly different models exist but if promoters are not willing to participate there's no tour (aleks 'forgot' promoters altogether). Here the situation is complex with label; probably Adam has one (not confirmed), the tour is not Adam's tour solely etc. which is why I believe his label has less to do with this one.
Sorry, mys*&@^#r but I don't have the time to find and relisten Sirius 50+ mins and Lance Bass abt 30 mins and the shorter ones in addition to the EW. You know better what you've listened. There was also a shorter Sirius one that I never saw posted and haven't heard (maybe a download was available but I don't do DLs). Quite possible I misunderstood but I'm certain it was more than just 'going back sat for a day or two', longer period was implied. If not, my memory is screwed up, sorry. :/)

So, this is how it's going to be for the next few months......wake up, stretch, yawn, eyes slam open when memory scan hits "YOU HAVE TICKETS FOR QAL!!!!!" Yes!!!!! You're not the only one. I feel like a kid when Christmas is approaching. Several times a day I exclaim, "I'm going to see QAL!!!" Then the big smile just spreads across my face.  DH thinks I'm losing it. Have to check into Atop to confirm I'm not the only one feeling this way. By the way, any other Atoppers going to the Toronto show? Haven't seen much mentioned about that venue. Nannygoat, I'm a very quiet Atopian (mostly a lurker!) but I'll be there!! My very first time to see Adam live -- I can hardly wait!!! |

Is 18,000 the capacity of the venue during a concert setup with no one sitting behind the stage, or the max capacity if seats behind the stage are used? |

1. Available numbers are wrong. Once they finish opening up all the sections, we can figure it out. 2. Just because there are no tickets showing for sale DOES NOT mean they have been sold. Probably Ticketmaster (or the partner) and Live Nation and the other stakeholders are sitting on 10% of the tickets. Just how it works and this has been a really, really clean sale. >> Some of those tickets will turn into Platinum or Fast Tickets. (Sold at super high prices.) >> Some are held for issue resolution/safety stock for when they put in the set and arrange the chairs. They will keep some super great tickets. Some are for VIPs. >> Some large percentage of tickets are never sold. This come out of the capacity numbers and include the artists' and promo allocations. How far off are these numbers? They can get 28,000+ into MSG. Edmonton will be less than 14,000 -- probably 13.6 Justin Timberlake -- Rexall Place 26,873 / 26,873 (100%) [2 shows] Justin Bieber Believe Tour -- Rexall Place 13,663 / 13,663 ** Toronto is max 16.5K Pink: Air Canada Centre 16,188 / 16,188 (100%) Lady Gaga: Monster Ball Tour, Air Canada Centre 16,488 / 16,488 (100%) ** Montreal is bigger than 14K Justin Bieber Believe Tour Bell Center 15,870 / 15,870 ** Best to make spreadsheets when we have a set configuration and some real numbers. ETA: And that is the pre-renovation number for The LA Forum -- "The Eagles six-night stand has behind-the-stage seats blocked; the venue can be scaled down to 9,000 seats with the upper sections curtained off via eight sheets on a mechanical operating system or expanded to a 17,000 capacity."
