You know what they say about great minds.
It is the only thing that makes sense to me. It is the only thing that fits what I know.
If it wasn't the plan, it happened. I was there surrounded by all the Clear Channel CHR hub MD/PD's and the General Managers or all the stations Adam needs to be on and Adam was undeniably brilliant.
And the combination of Queen + Adam was by far the moment.
Tried asking you this earlier. I remember in the fall you mentioned that you thought the plan for LMD was a release in the late spring because it was a summer kind of song. I wonder if this too is part of the plan and Aviici might have been clued in that something big was afoot and a great time for that single would be late spring.
I know I said late Spring would be single #3 and that could be LMD -- not because it is a summer kind of song, but because of the timing of AVICII singles. And it was clear after the album was released that "Hey Brother" was going to be US single #2.
>> I think LMD is a great club/dance song but it is not seasonal.
>> Looks like I got the timing for US single #3 about right. Unfortunately, it could be "Addicted to Love" that gets promoted in the US as #3.
As a follow-up to WMU, it was clear that Hey Brother was going to be the follow-up promoted single to WMU in the US.
("You Make Me" was an infill single in UK and Europe but not promoted in the US, peaked at #85)
"Addicted to Love" is the next single -- and goes to radio in the UK on April 7, 2014.
"Hey Brother" is still alive and well in the Top 20 in the US. CHR radio (Mediabase) 15 = AVICII Hey Brother 6686 +47 371 -79 42.038 +0.221
Still selling on US iTunes #11 right now.
They are going to need another single in some markets but late Spring. They might use LMD.
It is not clear if they are going to promote "Addicted to Love" in the US. Seems possible to me.
The way the US chart looks right now, I am not optimistic about LMD being released here. :( I hope I am wrong.
Here is the current Top 20 on iTunes...
1 Pharrell Williams - Happy (From "Despicable Me 2")
2 John Legend - All of Me
3 Katy Perry - Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J)
4 Aloe Blacc - The Man
5 The Chainsmokers - #SELFIE
6 Idina Menzel - Let It Go
7 Bastille - Pompeii
8 DJ Snake & Lil Jon - Turn Down For What
9 Florida Georgia Line - This Is How We Roll (feat. Luke Bryan)
10 Lorde - Team
11 Avicii - Hey Brother
12 American Authors - Best Day of My Life
13 Beyoncé - Drunk in Love (feat. Jay Z)
14 Brantley Gilbert - Bottoms Up

16 Martin Garrix - Animals
17 A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera - Say Something
18 OneRepublic - Counting Stars

Not much dance there.
Time will tell. The marketplace is really dynamic right now.

I would rather have a real Adam single vs. LMD. Both would be better.
