Are you loving former American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert as ‘Starchild’ on Glee as much as we are? We think the rocker who should have won season 8 has some serious acting skills to go along with his killer voice. Well, happily we’ve just gotten our hands on new Adam Lambert Glee spoilers photos to share from his next upcoming appearance!

Adam Lambert, who just recently announced he’ll be touring as the guest front-man for Queen this summer, will be back on Glee for the April 1st episode titled “New New York.” He will, of course, reprise his role of rocker Elliot ‘Starchild’ Gilbert, who plays in a band with Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer). And according to Glee spoilers for the episode, the two will be teaming up for an awesome duet, which you can take a sneak peek listen to below.

Sadly, this will likely be Adam’s last appearance on the show this season before he sets off to prepare for his North American tour with Queen. We can always hope he’ll pop back up again later for the final season of Glee. If not, we do hope we’ll see him again on the small (or even big!) screen again in the not-too-distant future.

There are 92 days until Chicago…so I thought I would start a countdown. And since I am counting down to the Queen + Adam Lambert Tour!! What could be betterer than possible songs for Queen and Adam to perform in concert?

Assuming they change out a few songs during the tour, and do 22 – 24 unique songs a night (excluding the guitar and drum solos), there could be around 30 songs performed in these concerts. And hopefully, I get a lot of them in my countdown. But that won’t be easy -- the Queen catalog is so big, the potential cover list is almost a universe, and there is a chance that they could also decide to perform an Adam song.

My recommendation is do not put this track on you setlist if you are trying to win. I think it is very unlikely that Queen will perform this early track. If they do perform it, it would be a real surprise. It would also be a real treat for Brian May fans, since in it’s original form it includes a spectacular Brian May guitar solo.

“Son and Daughter” goes back to the early days of Queen and is indicative of their very earliest sound, influenced by blues rock and heavy metal. It sounds a bit like Ledd Zeppelin in the early performances but evolves over time and by 1974 was Queen-tiscential.

It is one of the early Queen recordings of songs developed for live performances rather than in the studio.

The track was released in the UK on July 6, 1973 as the B-side of Queen’s first single, “Keep Yourself Alive” and one week later on Queen’s first album, “Queen” (released July 13, 1973). “Keep Yourself Alive” was released in the US on October 9, 1973. KYA was reissued in the US in 1975 but the B side was changed.

Background

Written by Brian May in 1972 for their first album, the song was a regular feature in Queen's live set until well into 1975. “Son and Daughter” originally housed Brian’s famous guitar solo. The album version of the song does not feature the guitar solo which is part of "Brighton Rock" from Sheer Heart Attack (1974). In early Queen concerts the guitar solo would take over the middle of "Son and Daughter", allowing the rest of the band a bit of a rest and costume change.

According to Queenonline.com, the Queen Early Show era (June 27, 1970 - August 3, 1973) “Exact setlists from the very early days remain unknown. It is known Queen used to play some Smile tracks (Doing Alright, maybe See What A Fool I've Been), a couple of their own tracks from the yet-to-be-released debut LP (Keep Yourself Alive, Liar, Great King Rat, Modern Times Rock'n'roll, Son And Daughter), the famous never-released track Hangman and some more pearls such as an early version of Stone Cold Crazy, Jesus and Night Comes Down (the latter two were never played live again after 1973). The concerts were always finished with a medley of rock'n'roll covers. The only known recordings from this era are in private collections of Brian May, ex-Queen bass players or Queen Productions.”

Unlike other songs from Queen's early period which crept back into circulation in the live set of their 1984-86 tours, such as "Liar", "Keep Yourself Alive", "The Seven Seas of Rhye" and "In the Lap of the Gods...Revisited", "Son and Daughter" stayed off the setlists after Queen's hit singles began to dominate their live show.
