He was with 19E at the time of FS 1. Lane was with him. I am not understanding where the idea that Adam organized the FS show himself is coming from? Would bet it was 19E that organized it just like they did with GNT. As a matter of fact, Orianthi was with 19 at the time of GNT also. GN, OFC, also had label support. He was a HOT item after Idol! Gridlock sold out! I imagine FS wanted him very much! Selling out a venue that is 2 hours from hometown #1 and 2 hours from hometown #2 would not have been a far fetched idea for FS!
Q3, could you shed some light on this topic?
Where does the idea come from? Huh? It was brought up by me, I am listed as the author of the post? Not sure what the question is? Nope, I do not hire ghost writers for my posts quite yet. The reason, it was even discussed, is because of Q3's discussion about shoestring planning and a growing scope of touring events around Adam. FS was kind of a pre-round to everything that followed. GNT was clearly sponsored and supported by RCA, but FS (and Vancouver) were not. And so, I posted about the FS situation.
I guess, where the disconnect or differences of opinion seem to be is the involvement of 19M.
At the time (2010), there was quite a bit of discussion, who was the sponsor and whether there was a secret promoter behind the event and quite some astonishment that nobody could confirm that this concert was indeed happening, when doubts came up in the fanbase. Jane was around (and also at the concert, if I remember right), but she was not in an official capacity there.
OK, I read above that Q3 has different info, not sure which information she has that 19M managed that, that is different than what I know, but in the end does not matter a ton. Bottom-line, RCA was not involved and did not put out any budget for a tour, until the results from FS and Vancouver proved the viability of a successful tour.
I have no idea why Gridlock was brought up. This was a event sponsored by Ryan Seacrest's 'many world of empires' somewhere and involved other idol finalists. It was announced on every radio station that runs the RS show, which is a huge amount of promo. Completely different situation that the shoe string approach at FS.
Now a few questions: Who is this GN? If you means GNT, then yes, of course that had label support, as reported and noted. Never any question. Yes, during GNT, both Orianthi as well as Allison were RCA artists, but that has nothing to do with FS.
Finally, the venue made a good pick when they picked Adam and they had no idea what they had at their hands when they booked him, and were totally surprised by
a) the phone calls that started coming in way before any official announcement
b) from all over the world
c) in record numbers
They were stunned by the sell-out, and then later surprised by the level of fame their casino had gotten thanks to that one concert. They were fast learners, and clearly made a good choice. They were completely clueless about the Glamberts, i.e. they assumed that prior and post the concert, Glamberts would gamble at their casino, when in reality everyone was just gathering and chatting and drinking a bit, but primarily socializing.
For their second round with the AL crowd, they were accordingly prepared. But the first time, they ventured into new territory, and were the guinea pigs for all kinds of other casino venues that looked at what they had done and took note.
FS was not only artistically such a great show, it was also such a vindication for Adam. He had been told 'no' so much, and here were 3000 people gathered just for him. It was so special, and he felt the level of support in a big way that night, in spite of those empty reservation related VIP rows in the front. It was a very special atmosphere for everyone that attended.
All planning for GNT only got rolling after FS (and Vancouver). Then RCA got finally behind things, and we all know what a success it was.
And yes, you may be right with 19E versus 19M, I am absolutely incapable of properly distinguishing those two. 19R, I understand, but the other two always blend together in my mind. It's in the past, but what remains in my head forever is
Adam can think very entrepreneurial and creatively
Adam is willing to take risks
Adam needs to get out of tour to have success
Limiting Adam's ability to tour (TSP round under RCA) is limiting him as an artist
Adam will always find ways to tour with or without label
Hope that sorts it all out and answers you questions.
