Kittykay During AI time Adam was DATING and several friends/dates appeared in pics and in the audience. He says he flirted with "everyone" with the show....  Ie. AI staff etc....haha The people who worked on AI knew he was gay. Then Drake appeared in several weekly audience pans of family/ friends of Adam. So he had "special people" in his life. ..visible but not defined. I was not sure if you were meaning ...you wish he could have had those fellas as part of a special someone to mention to the AI audience. But Brad and he were long over....so as a thought....I am okay they did not mention anyone special. The audience would have had a hard time keeping up!  |

I voted extra hard at the finale for that reason as well. Two acquaintances (both College Professors) approached me at a High School track meet telling everyone in our group to vote for the Christian guy on Idol. They couldn't remember the guys name or had even watched the season. The minister from their church had instructed the congregation to get the word out. We could not have a Gay Man representing us as American Idol. ETA: Adam made the right decision not to confirm or deny the gay rumours. He would have been voted off before he had the opportunity to win America over. I am still furious that EW did a hole cover story on "Gay Idol" weeks before the final. It was no different than Perez publicly outing people. Adam didn't hide who he was. He had the most attractive family section in Idol history. I don't understand what the bold part means? are you saying that only gay people have attractive families? As for the EW cover, that did nothing to hurt or help Adam. I don't know if people suspecting Adam might be gay cost him the title or not but I do know that Kris Allen really turned it on the last three or so weeks of the competition. He won a lot of people over with Heartless and then his performance of Ain't No Sunshine on finale night was spectacular too. I think Adam lost because more of the people who actually vote preferred Kris' music but more of the people who actually buy music preferred Adam which is why after idol Adam did much better. No NO NO Adam's section was always filled with his beautiful Hollywood friends. Most results night he had at least one obviously gay friend. This didn't escape the bloggers. What were some of the names Jacob had for some of them? I remember Scarfy McHotenson (?) The EW article and Bill O'Reilly definitely had an impact in the middle of the country.
I couldn't disagree with this more. Adam's voters were voting for Adam. Kris's voters were voting for Kris and some against Adam. Kris didn't have voters voting against him. It is all water under the bridge now. I will never be sorry that it was Adam/Kris in the finale. It was a fabulous week. Kris s very talented and I hope he finds success this next era. |

That is all things I know now, but I didn't know at the time I googled Adam. Drake wasn't in the picture at that time. They didn't create much back story for Adam. |
