When Adam was doing one of the background intros to his song he said a few words in an accent I knew as West Hollywood and I figured he was gay. My thought, I will have to vote more! I voted extra hard at the finale for that reason as well. Two acquaintances (both College Professors) approached me at a High School track meet telling everyone in our group to vote for the Christian guy on Idol. They couldn't remember the guys name or had even watched the season. The minister from their church had instructed the congregation to get the word out. We could not have a Gay Man representing us as American Idol.ETA: Adam made the right decision not to confirm or deny the gay rumours. He would have been voted off before he had the opportunity to win America over. I am still furious that EW did a hole cover story on "Gay Idol" weeks before the final. It was no different than Perez publicly outing people. Adam didn't hide who he was. He had the most attractive family section in Idol history.
Too bad that the instruction's useless. Ohh Yes Adam didn't win American Idol but he ended up MORE FAMOUS than most of the winners and Adam is known as the guy from (aka representing) American Idol around the world.

I read that today too! I find it amazing that it keeps getting reported that way! It was such a big year on Idol with lots of publicity and still the mistake! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it, but come on. |

American Idol is a game show. The smartest person does not always win Jeopardy. Clearly the best vocalist and performer does not always win Idol.
It is what it is. And nothing will change history.
I am just thankful that we have so many great Adam performances from Idol. And that Adam get signed to a major label contract (which was no small feat in 2009 for an openly gay artist.) And that Adam met Queen on Idol.
And the evil side of my is happy that he was not beaten by Danny. (Yes, I said the evil side of me.)
