Mustapha
Written by: Freddie Mercury
Musicians:
Freddie Mercury - lead and backing vocals, piano
Brian May - guitars
John Deacon - bass guitar
Roger Taylor - drums, hawk-bells
- Issued as a single in Yugoslavia, Bolivia, Germany and Spain.
- The words have never really been translated and supposedly is mostly nonsense Arabic words.
- This was a song that was played live sporadically through 1980 in full but the fans loved it! Even when they stopped playing it in full, the fans would often chant it...Occasionally Freddie (and in some instances even Brian during his solo tours) would indulge and at least sing the beginning. You heard it already on the Live Killers' version of Bohemian Rhapsody which is the only officially released version but I won't post that again.
UNRELEASED LIVE PERFORMANCES
QUEEN LIVE IN ST. PAUL 1980
- Not great quality but there aren't many videos of the full version of the song!
QUEEN LIVE IN JAPAN 1985
- A snippet only right before Hammer To Fall
BRIAN MAY LIVE IN GERMANY 1993
- AUDIO only.
- Brian randomly sang it a few times.
PERSONAL NOTES:
- This is probably my kids favorite Queen song overall. It's just a fun opener with no meaning at all.
Mustapha......1% - I give it 1% if only because if some Queen fans give it gusto I could see Brian singing the opening before going into something else BUT Highly doubtful
