I was talking with someone on Twitter who was arguing Adam aint big enough to tourwith Queen, and that hes only big in the states, and has no international fanbase, which is kinda an contradiction in term. I guess extending a tour to Asia kinda throws that theory out the door haha, if anything Adam is huge internationally in cntries like Japan, China, NZ, Finland, Australia etc. Most likely where Qal tour well extend to some of those countries if extended. Nz for instance has had 8 radio singles; Fye, Wwfm, Iihy, Fever, Sure Fire Winners, Btikm, Ncoe, Trespassing, Wwfm, Fye, Iihy, and Fever all went platnum. Some people just choose to have selective state of mind, Freddies a legend so ppl just choose to presume no one can come close, its really just ignorance. Ppl see him as a showtunes singer, or a theatre kid idol runner up, or a pop singer like katy perry. Its only when ppl give him an oppurtunity they realize while no Freddie, vocally hes on par, an. Hes a pretty good Adam Lambert. Most of the haters are trolls who 90 % of the time are not real Queen fans, and just live off an audience, and betty sue types feeding him. Trying to convince ppl oh heres Adam Lambert singing wwtlf suck on that haha, theyre idiots they dont deserve to listin to vocal genius any way. Vocally Adam is superior to Freddie. Some peeps prefer baritones to tenors [shrug] Adam may have better technique, but he does sound sonically different from Freddie. People are used to that sound. And no, they don't sound the same so that difference can be jarring. The fact that people are nonetheless impressed enough to say Adam's is "on par" despite their pre-formed opinion is enough to make me happy.  |

I was going to preface my comment by telling talon to put his fingers in his ears and go la-la-la-la-la first, but I am so tired of hearing "he's no Freddie" ... that's right, vocally he is better. Everything after that is personal preference and it is obvious where mine lies. |

I think we shouldn't get defensive.. we get what we want .. A QAL tour in the US. And IMO they're not haters.. they just bitter because they don't get what they want .. whatever it is they want. And.. Queen's touring for fans who wants to see them play and be there with them.. Brian & Roger are not doing this for fans who don't want to be there. So.. ignoring them is the best thing to do.

Y'know, I keep having friends say "Blood oranges are BETTER than regular oranges". And I've tried them, and they're interesting, but I kinda prefer a really good fresh Florida orange. But I'll admit they're a lot better that those out-too-long crap oranges that are getting on the hard side at the cafeteria.
But the fact I'm willing to try something new-ish when I KNOW I like my tried-and-true should be worth something. I'm willing to give the die-hard Freddie lovers a pass if they're willing to give Adam a try. Maybe they'll think he "interesting, and worth trying occasionally". Maybe it will turn out that they LOVE deeply-colored fruit and become fans. And maybe regular oranges are just their thing.
And maybe I shouldn't post after taking cold medication and should go to bed.  |

I think Shoshanna is acutely aware of what she's saying at all times. I think she gets so many tweets throughout each day that she picks and chooses those that will help her get across whatever her message du jour may be. This isn't the first time she's gotten a tweet misconstruing or "jumping the gun" on her delivery of Adam news; with all that's been going on media-wise with Adam, I'd be willing to bet that she's been getting a lot of speculation about his career--both accurate and otherwise--that she's feeling a need to put a little damper on some possibly over-enthusiastic fan reaction. Both Shoshanna and Adam have intimated that big things are coming, but fans can take encouraging statements and escalate anticipation to the skies. Shoshanna might be feeling the need to keep fan minds and hearts grounded on Earth!
 and  .. by the way were you in MJ in 2009? I seem to remember there's a "teri" in there.

I have absolutely nothing against die-hard Freddie lovers. I think he had an amazing voice. I remember about 15-ish years ago I played some Queen songs for my mother, so she could just hear his voice and I will never forget her response, "That's very nice dear but he's no Frank Sinatra." There you go.
But it has become a meme, a comment made without thought by people who have no stake in the game. Die-hard Freddie lovers have that stake but Joe Blow on an internet quasi-news site does not, they are just repeating what they think sounds most inside-knowledgeable. Adam's voice is spectacular and needs no qualifiers. I know, I know .... if you are going to sing with Queen then you must expect the comparisons but, but, but ....
I think I need to go to bed too. Your cold-medicine sounds like a good idea.

I wonder if QAL might try to shake up some arrangements this time around. B&R have been known to experiment with arrangements...but usually for one offs not for tours...although we did get the different ending Somebody To Love (that started with QE). But I would love to see them shake up an old familiar like WWRY like how Roger did it on tour in the late 90s... One of my favorite versions...even if Roger isn't too sure on the words   The Official Queen channel just started posting this concert from the Cyberbarn in 1998! It's remastered and unlike the VHS release it got, this seems to be the whole gig without the interspersed (and music-cutting) interviews! I'm pretty happy with this YT upload by the site :D
