Sometimes i wish i could see simons face now when he read or watch all the wonderful news about adam and his success. This ai jury man had never seen the complete talented adam.. he only saw, adam is not like the other ones and tried to change him. I remember Simon more fondly. As the competition went on, he got it. He was the one that said that beautiful thing right after the last night of competition. It was something like the purpose of the show was to find a world wide rock star (I think he said rock star) and I believe with all my heart we found that in you. He was basically saying no matter how this turns out, you are it. Yes, he did! And Simon, if I remember correctly, never once criticized Adam's vocals (how could he, right?!) it was usually the staging and interpretation. But even that was only a few times, maybe for ROF and Feeling Good. And even a Glambert would have to admit, both ROF & FG were amazingly over the top, but in a very good way!

Katie Purvis @katiemelb · 3h ago Hey @adamlambert fans! I have it on good authority that 'Lay Me Down' is the next Avicii single; will be released to Oz radio next week. \o/ Old post from 4/10.. Katie Purvis @katiemelb · Apr 10(NB I gave 'Lay Me Down' by @avicii ft. @nilerodgers & @adamlambert its first play on Australian radio MONTHS ago on @joy949!) Katie Purvis @katiemelb @14gelly @devenlane Heard it directly from Avicii's Aussie record label.Katie Purvis @katiemelb @14gelly @devenlane I hope it's worldwide and not just Australia. But if it's going to be released here, surely the rest of the world too? This would be great, I love LMD!
I think because of the Lipton Ice tea using LMD, it's a good time for them to release it as single worldwide. I hope Lipton will also release the same ad in the US.

I think Simon quickly knew Adam had "it, " was damn glad he was on the show every week, liked Adam personally, too, and just generally enjoyed everything Adam brought to the show (talent/work ethic/buzz).
Funny thing about Simon, to me, is I never picked up much love of music from him, just love of commercial potential.

Simon didn't criticize Adam for the staging of Feeling Good--in fact, he said it was the best entrance by a contestant ever and that Ryan was no longer allowed to use the staircase. Randy was the one who said the performance was a little too theatrical, to which Simon responded that complaining about Adam being too theatrical was like complaining that a cow mooed. I guess by that time Simon had learned to appreciate Adam's theatricality. Simon definitely didn't like the arrangement and staging of ROF, which pissed me off because if he had only paid attention to Adam's incredible vocal on that song, he'd have to admit that it was amazing--something that no other contestant that season could have pulled off in a million years!

Simon is a Sony A&R, so he sees artist in a complete package... voice, music and commercial potential. And he sees all that in Adam for the first time in 8 years of AI. And he's right because Adam's the next Idol who's really big internationally after Kelly. Though I would not be surprised at that time Simon also got all the input/responds from all his colleagues around the world regarding Adam.

Also, Simon repeatedly encouraged fans to VOTE for Adam and not to be complaisant - which was really useful, especially given the "he is so good he would not be voted off" attitude and all the vote splitting in support of Allison. IMO even his "critique" was tongue in cheek type, for instance his ROF remarks did not come across as sincere at all, at least not to me....too much smurking

The pic is taken mid January 2013 when I believe they were celebrating Adam getting rid of 19 (+ some letter) ie free from extra middlemen taking a cut of his earnings.

In the videos I’ve seen, Simon always came across to me as a strong Adam supporter. He really seemed to understand what Adam was capable of, and what he was going for. He might not have agreed with Adam’s methods of presentation, but that’s fair. I think he’d express puzzlement if anyone ever asked him if he was surprised by Adam’s success…I figure his response would be “Well of course he’s an international star, who thought he wouldn’t be??” I don’t know if anyone has a link, but there is an amazing interview out there somewhere of someone asking Simon who he thought would win Idol in Season 9 (THAT’s NINE, the season after Adam, Lee Dewyze’s year) and he responded that he thought Adam would win. Then had to backtrack and say, oh wait, that was last year. Not only did he totally forget the season he was actually judging (which is shameful, but whatever) but Adam was the contestant he remembered as the best.
