Well, until a few months ago, you also advised against the MSG, because QAL couldn't sell that out, and neither could they sell out the Forum. I think we all were a tad surprised how quickly MSG and other large venues sold out. But, I guess, I am just more optimistic about QAL than you are. Nothing wrong with that. I also predicted that AU/NZ is where they were likely going for their 30 year return, even though the years were not added up exactly, as you pointed out.
Now in all earnestly, I was writing about the weather, not trying to discuss numbers. And yes, I did think that a simple 13,000 arena was too small for them Down Under, and so I just generically said, 'stadiums' as a description for 'next size up'.
But realizing that such sizes often go hand in hand with the outdoors, I made my post about August weather.
Not all stadiums are 80K+.
Even though Sydney is blessed with one such stadium, I did not think that this is their venue and probably would have considered that too large, if somebody had suggested it. But, I did not analyze concert space in AU. Gladly leave that to the promoters.
But, if you assume that one concert in a 13K arena in Melbourne and one in a 20K arena in Sydney is all the market in AU will hold, then I just happen to have to disagree with you. It may be all that the continent will get, but that will probably leave some people without tickets.
Maybe, they will do multiple concerts, I don't know.
I sure think, they are loading themselves up pretty heavily for this summer/southern winter, and I hope all goes well, health-wise for them.
And with that thought on the back of my mind, I wish them rather 1 concert in a larger venue, than 3 concerts in smaller arenas.
The rest of this, I leave to the pros. Hope, I explained, where I was coming from.
