I just posted another clip of a battle from last night's The Voice Oz in the Vocal Masterclass thread - really gorgeous and worth a listen if you feel like taking a spin over there. www.adamtopia.com/post/499611/threadAdam tie in - There is lots of Adam love in Oz right now and we have a reality singing competition to thank for introducing him to Queen :-) #carryon #queenwillrockoz

TALON'S TAKE
No supplemental today as I don't want to overwhelm so I'll just give my take on the two Q3 posted
Fat Bottomed Girls
Written by: Brian May
Musicians:
Freddie Mercury - lead and backing vocals Brian May - guitars, lead, backing, and intro chorus vocals John Deacon - bass guitar Roger Taylor - drums
- Issued as a Double A-side single with Bicycle Race in October 1978 and hit #24 in the US and #11 in the UK. It was also released in Austria (#21), Dutch Charts (#7), Frances (#7), Germany (#27), Ireland (#10), and Norway (#7)
- The track was played live on and off through the 1982 tour, then taken off for the 1984,1985, and 1986 tours. Brian brought it back for his solo tour in 1998 and then QPR and QAL.
- A very country influenced rock song, there have been quite a few country covers over the years - with Kid Rock doing a countryish version on Outlaws and more recently The Band Perry doing a cover.
QUOTES:
- "We lost some of our audience with that. ‘How could you do it? It doesn’t go with your spiritual side.’ But my answer is that the physical side is just as much a part of a person as the spiritual or intellectual side. It’s fun. I’ll make no apologies. All music skirts around sex, sometimes very directly. Ours doesn’t. In our music sex is either implied or referred to semi-jokingly, but it’s always there.” – Brian May
- "I wrote it with Fred in mind, as you do especially when you’ve got a great singer who likes fat bottomed girls…or boys.” – Brian May
ALTERNATE RELEASED VERSION:
SINGLE EDIT
- NOT necessary - just edits out some instrumental parts
VIDEO VERSION
- NOT necessary - a combination between the single edit and the album version.
1991 HOLLYWOOD REMIX
- NOT necessary but interesting. - From the Hollywood Records 1991 remastering of Jazz this remix stays true to the original but does add some alternate Freddie vocal tracks at the end ('Those dirty ladies get me everytime!')
ORGANIZED KONFUSION MIX
- NOT necessary but some interest. - 1999 Hollywood Remix and does include some alternate Freddie tracks as well if you can stomach the rest.
VHS EDIT DVD EDIT - Didn't find YT videos but it really wasn't necessary - just similar single edits.
EMI REMASTER ERROR - Didn't find a YT video but it wasn't necessary - Includes an annoying pop during the playback.
OFFICIALLY RELEASED LIVE VERSIONS
ON FIRE AT THE BOWL VERSION
- Freddie always had a fun time with this track. - VERY playful!
QPR - RETURN OF THE CHAMPIONS VERSION
- This a Queen track that fits Paul's voice very well if not the playfulness. His soulful take is quite different and while I prefer Freddie, this is a very solid performance.
QPR - LIVE IN URKAINE -Surprisingly I couldn't find a YT copy of this. It isn't much different from the previous one though.
UNRELEASD LIVE PERFORMANCES
BRIAN MAY - LIVE IN ST. PETERSBURGH 1998
- It was great to see Brian take the lead on this one finally. He performed a medley of Queen tracks during this segment - and the guitar solo you hear towards the end was actually lifted directly from 1986's Gimme The Prize. I love the fact that he can take one solo and make it fit a completely different song! Especially since they never did that song live...
QPR - LIVE IN CHILE 2008
- Since I couldn't find Ukraine!
ROGER TAYLOR - LIVE IN 2011 - No YT video unfortunately. During a performance with the SAS band, Roger took the lead vocals on this track. I have never heard this unfortunately :(
QAL - KIEV 2012
- It's a good track from Adam because it is such a playful track which plays into his stage presence.
QAL + NATE RUESS - iHEART
- Fun version - Nate seemed to be honored to be there and gave it his all. A fun duet!
PERSONAL NOTES: - This is such a fun singalong track that really works well live. LOVE the harmonies and love the vocals in general. Rocking track!
CHANCES Fat Bottomed Girls......95% -- I can't see them dropping it at this point. In fact at this point it's hard to imagine that they ever dropped it from the set but they didn't play it after 1982 until Paul Rodgers came into the fold!
These Are The Days Of Our Lives
Written by Roger Taylor
Musicians:
Freddie Mercury - lead and backing vocals Brian May - guitars John Deacon - bass guitar Roger Taylor - drums, percussion, keyboards David Richards - keyboards
- Issued as a single backed with ‘Bijou’ in September 1991 in the US (where it did not chart). Issued as a Double A-side single with ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ in December 1991 in the UK (where it hit #1). Issued as a single with an unknown B-Side in Australia (where it hit #5), The Netherlands (where it hit #2), and Japan.
- Played live at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert (with George Michael and Lisa Stansfield), then again on Roger's solo tours and again during the 2005-2006 tours with live performances featuring on The Freddie Mercury Tribute, Five Live, Live At The Cyberbarn, Return Of The Champions, and 2005 Official Downloads (two versions) and of course during the 2012 tour.
- This was the final video that Freddie was able to film. It is EXTREMELY poignant, especially at the end when he appears to be speaking directly to the fans with his final...I still love you...VERY touching.
QUOTES:
"I was very pleased with that. That's the first take I recorded, and Roger said, 'Well...' And I said, 'Just leave it there for a while and let it sit. See if it grows on you.' I had a feeling about it. I really prefer it. We could've done a cut-and-dried solo which, on the face of it, would've been more dramatic, but that was where I wanted to go." - Brian May - August 1991 - Guitar World
ALTERNATE RELEASED VERSIONS
VINYL EDIT
- NOT ESSENTIAL - Percussion intro taken out
RADIO EDIT
- NOT ESSENTIAL - Takes out some guitar bits
LIVE VERSIONS
QUEEN + GEORGE MICHAEL & LISA STANSFIELD - FREDDIE MERCURY TRIBUTE 1992
- A nice version even though they screw up the words a bit.
ROGER TAYLOR @ CYBERBARN 1999
- Remastered and released this year on YT. Great version.
ROGER TAYLOR @ the BAND DU LAC CONCERTS 2005
- Interesting version with a clarinet replacing Brian's guitar!
QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS - 2005
- A nice version with Roger and Brian singing the duet.
QUEEN @ PRINCE'S TRUST 2010
- NOTE this is their whole 20 minute set but Days Of Our Lives if the first song. Perhaps my favorite version. I don't know quite why but it just fits very well and Roger/Brian vocals are very in the zone with each other. I really dug it.
QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT - 2012
- MUCH like the 2005 version...they still got it!
SPECIAL:
MAKING OF VIDEO
- QUITE Sad to see - Freddie is getting towards the end and it's hard to watch
PERSONAL NOTES: - WHAT a classic. I think it's because Queen is SO over the top, dramatic, putting on a million vocals, guitars, etc...that makes the simplicity of this work so well. The nostalgia aspect works well also though. I wish we could have seen a Freddie/Roger duet of it...but either way one of my favs.
CHANCES: These Are The Days Of Our Lives......75% -- I think it likely Roger will perform it, BUT as it could be supplanted by a different RT track. I hope so though as I love this track...[/u]

Amazon is selling The Best Of for $7.00. For the CD and the automatic MP3 download. Too good to say "No" even tho' I already have everything but the radio edits, which I don't care about. Have to have a complete CD collection, right? Well, except for the bastard albums. I refuse to buy those. The live Mad World and Tracks of My Tears alone make this CD worth it, if you don't have them. I bought it on presale & it arrives tomorrow! It IS Adam's music, so i have no qualms about buying it. RCA will own those songs forever, it is what it is. I never bought or even DLed from others the bastard albums. It was just a matter of principle, for me, as those songs were never meant to see the light of day as "Adam's music!"
