I have come to the conclusion that those who love Adam really see him, really feel him, really get him. We understand and love his performance because we get what he is trying to give to us. During every performance whether on video or in person, we catch what he is putting out there. I know my brain has an area that reacts to him immediately on that first note or smile or joke. I really believe we are kind of different from the rest of the population. I have never done this before. Obviously, no one else has ever come along to impress me this much. Believe me when I say, I have seen them all over the years. No one has ever affected me like Adam. I wish I understood why. It is one of my life's mysteries. I'm in your camp, Irish!

OT Those with more experience of these concert layouts - does anyone have any thoughts on how the area around the 'thrust' will play out? Will everyone stay in their seats (or at least stand by them) - or will they leave seats and rush to the barriers around the stage and thrust area? Will security stop this or is it expected? Could there be people from the floor areas behind, coming forward? (Just considering a different seat and wondered....)

I am so glad this topic (trying to introduce friends and family to the wonder of AFL) came up so I can share my story! I have been basically alone in my own private fandom since "Mama". Adult kids just rolled their eyes and only comment they offered was "I just don't get it!" So I stepped back and decided that it was their loss and I was not going to let their attitude diminish my joy. Friends have been more receptive and tolerate my obsession. Several in fact are going to MSG with me, so it should be interesting to hear their reactions on the train ride back home that night. And thanks to this great forum, Irene Rose, another Staten Islander, and I found each other! We have met a few times and found we had a lot in common. She is joining us on the train to MSG! But even betterer: just Irene Rose and I are going to Phiily the night before! We can't wait for the day to get here! My youngest brother played (folky, Allman Bros. Type) guitar in a neighborhood band back in his youth and still loves music. He and his wife came to take our mother to Mothers Day lunch and joined me on our porch for a while after they returned. I don't know what possessed me, but I had Atop opened on my iPad, sitting on my lap.....and I found myself blurting out "GUESS who I'm going to see in concert in July?! And not one show, but two!!" Of course, I didn't give them a chance to guess. I felt so FREE, announcing "Queen!!!!!....with Adam Lambert!" Then I waited for it........he looked at me, smiled and said "That is AWESOME!! Adam is amazing and he is the perfect singer to appear with Queen! He has the lungs to carry their music!" it took me a moment or two to recover, as you can imagine. I had NO idea he even knew who Adam was! We chatted for a few more minutes before they had to leave. Of course, I could not let the convo just die, so I hopped on IM and texted him the link to iHeart. A few minutes later, he IMd back "WHERE are those concerts again?" *and another one bites the dust........ When I told him there is one at Izod, not 20 mins from his front door......I had him! 10 mins later he IMd they had floor seats and could not wait to see them! Then he dropped another news bomb on me: he had seen Queen with FM! They opened for Chicago, the act he went to see, and he had no idea who these guys were..... And his 19 year old psyche didn't know what to make of Freddie in white spandex, all the costume changes, etc....but by the end of their set, he said the whole place was going crazy and he knew he had accidentally witnessed something very special. So as you can see, you never know when you will find another kindred spirit! They're out there! They're just not as vocal as we are!

Most arena concerts I've been to recently (Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Rolling Stones, etc) seem to have standing only areas on the floor closest to the stage. It's unusual to have reserved seats close to stage in my experience, but I'm glad they are - don't have to get to the venue at the crack of dawn to try to fight for a spot. I think most people will stand near their seats, but there will be a few to push forward (IF security lets them). Maybe it's discriminatory but I believe that most people that can afford these seats near the thrust are over 30 and won't be the type to push their way to the stage, then again I have seen some pretty pushy glamberts over the last 5 years, so who knows! I have a friend that purchased nosebleed seats for QAL in San Jose and truly believes that she will push her way to the front floor (she says she has done this for other rock acts such as Aerosmith) - I have a feeling most glamberts won't let her get past them, we'll see. I do hope people stay near their seats because I've paid $$$ for spots around the trust and it would be annoying if people pushed up front. I think there is pretty good security at most of these type venues and you would have to produce a floor ticket to get down there.

Thanks, Didilynn
Yes - I tried to find pictures of similar layouts and they all seem to be standing general admission around the stage and thrust areas. Oh well, we'll soon find out....!

In the "early years" of my Adam fandom (2009-2010) I often found some way to mention him at some point during a conversation with anyone new. Mostly met with indifference or the usual "oh yeah, the guy from American Idol." Ido have one friend who liked him a lot on Idol, and I gave her my extra copy of Trespassing. I wanted mostly to share his music, I think because I think he's so good I want everyone else to like him too! I posted videos of a few great performances on Facebook to resounding indifference. My sons tolerate me talking about Adam (one came to the GNT show with me when my husband wouldn't), but I try to limit my mentions and keep it to the music. I was pleasantly surprised when my son pulled up the True album on his IPad and pointed out Lay Me Down! Anyway, I think the main reasons I want to "share" so much about Adam are that I want everyone to know about him and recognize his talent (personal music preferences be damned, lol!), and I hope to find someone I can fangirl with in person who won't just think I'm weird!
