Talon, or anyone else....I agree with your 99.9% odds that Queen + Adam Lambert will include "Radio Ga Ga" Radio Ga Ga has been a Queen staple since it was released in 1984. It was part of all the essential concerts in 1985 and 1986 -- Live Aid, Wembley and Knebworth. It has been performed at a number of big events since then. So why was it not part of iHeart Radio Music Festival's sampler set? Not even a token bit of it was performed. They could have done a bit of it between ABTAD and CLTCL both of which were performed in Vegas. Any theories? The best I can come up with is that I have always had the impression that Brian was not a huge fan of that song. They had to limit their set & what they did at iHeart, for a sample for that audience, IMO, was perfect! The first part of the iHR set -- the first 11 minutes -- was possibly the best concert sequence I have ever seen live*, so I am not wishing they changed it. Just never noticed that they did not perform RGG until last night. And they only had a 30 minute set -- so they had to make choices. * I was not at Queen Live Aid which I believe may really be the best live concert ever. Queen had 20 minutes at Live Aid and also opened with the partial BoRhap then transitioned to "Radio Ga Ga". Interestingly that setlist also closed with the short WWRY/WATC. So the setlists of these two short concerts were similar. Side comment: My only complaint about the iHR setlist was that STL and FBG were a bit on the long side. STL and FBG were good choices for the .fun part of the set. But I think they could have shorted both FBG and STL -- it was about 10 minutes for those two songs -- and the last 1:30 of STL was a hot mess. (No matter what the video edit looks like, there was a ton of energy in the arena for the first part of STL but not so much for the last part of STL. And I like Nate Ruess and .fun so really not hating on Nate.)Queen has done a version of "Radio Ga Ga" that is about 1:30 so it could have been in the opening hits medley -- something they have done in other concerts, so not really a time thing. I think it was a choice. It may have to do with how that opening set flowed but the Live Aid concert transition was seamless. I wonder if they chose to leave RGG out of iHR because it was not a big hit in the US? It was #1 to #3 all over the world -- except in the US and Japan. Or was it something else? Yesterday, I read and listened to a number of interviews from The Works promo tour and about RGG. There can be no doubt that Roger, John and Freddie really liked RGG. Freddie seemed to be the song's biggest advocate. But Brian is not so clear about his thoughts on the song and has made a number of comments that make me think he may really not understand/believe how powerful and popular that song is.

ETA: I have confirmed that there will be a video stream online!

The best I can come up with is that I have always had the impression that Brian was not a huge fan of that song. I never got the impression that Brian didn't like the song. I think he wasn't sure about how they came across in the video. There were some that thought they came off as slagging off their fanbase as inn the fans will do whatever we want them to kind of thing and I think Brian was sensitive to that. I seriously doubt Brian would veto the song for iheart as it's almost ALWAYS done even in a lot of their one offs. I think you're more on to the fact that it was a short set and they were compensating for allowing fun a longer bit as well. AND it wasn't a huge US hit so it wouldn't be missed in a short set like this. I really think that's it in my opinion... The event will broadcast live on-air as a 60-minute special on Clear Channel Classic Rock stations and streamed online across Classic Rock, Classic Hits and Oldies station websites as well as www.iHeartRadio.com. So just the audio will air? AND is the 60 minutes the concert or is that the concert AND the Q&A. If it's the Q&A it will be a shorter set...perhaps 45 minutes or so. Another iheart type performance just without fun and perhaps a substitution of songs....perhaps Ga Ga is back in...Wonder if Nikki Sixx joins in on bass for a track...TYMD?
