I just returned home, from the concert. I am still in a bit of an Adam coma, so please forgive me if my recollections are a bit manic. Adam was in the pocket, tonight. He seemed very much at ease with the band. More like an equal vs a featured artist. He had the crowd, in the palm of his hands. The crowd was very enthusiastic....a young man in front of me was quite an Adam fan...he went crazy every time Adam hit a glory note. Lots of men and young people, in the audience. (Shallow end): Adam looked incredibly beautiful. I am in love with his tailor-his pants were very well fit! Sauli and Tommy Joe were in attendance, as were Lyndsay Parker and Sam Sparrow. Sam Sparrow is really very handsome, in person. BTW, our very own rockstar, Q3, had a conversation, with Sam. The concert went by, in a flash.....I need to go watch Youtubes. Still can't believe I was there and can't wait until the Forum. It was so wonderful meeting the other Atopers. They are all such amazing women. Usagi can be my plus one, any day. Thanks for sharing!!

Queen + Adam Lambert embark on their first U.S. arena tour this Thursday, June 19, but on Monday night at their iHeartRadio Live show streamed on Yahoo Screen, 400 lucky fans got a preview of the tour, at the much more intimate iHeartRadio Theater in Burbank. And there, they were treated to a massive surprise on the new Queen setlist: "Love Kills."
"Love Kills" is a relatively obscure song, but Queen fanatics definitely know (and love) it. It was late, great original Queen frontman Freddie Mercury's first song recorded as a solo artist, and was featured on electronic music legend Giorgio Moroder's soundtrack for the 1984 rerelease of Fritz Lang's classic 1927 silent film, Metropolis. While the track wasn't necessarily well-received at the time (it was actually nominated for "Worst Original Song" at the 1985 Razzie Awards), it did make it to No. 10 on the U.K. singles chart, and it went on to become a cult classic.
According to Queen's publicist, Queen never performed "Love Kills" live with Freddie, who died in 1991. Freddie never performed it solo, either. But almost 30 years after the song's release, Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor debuted a live version at the iHeartRadio Theater, with Adam Lambert singing lead. This was a gutsy move. With rock purists likely already wondering if any singer, even one as talented as Adam, could ever "replace" Freddie Mercury, Queen + Adam Lambert reviving a Freddie solo song could have massively backfired.
But by putting a unique, semi-acoustic spin on the track, they remained respectful to the original — and to Freddie's legacy. "We're going to do it in our own way, minus the disco," Adam explained to the iHeartRadio audience.
Compare and contrast Queen + Adam Lambert's version of "Love Kills" above with Freddie's original below:

From the interview. Brian May: "I gotta say, Adam is amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for him. He doesn't go 'Oh, god, I don't know...' He goes, 'Oh, yeah. OK. I could, I can work on that.' ..... He has great confidence but he also has a kind of um.. a sort of reality, sort of humility, and likes to work. Like us. We like a challenge." We all know that this is a heady experience for Adam. A "pinch me" experience. But, it is also the same for Brian and Roger. Imagine again having a frontman who can sing anything you throw at him, anything you ask him to do. Add to that, who has their kind of work ethic, and is up to the kinds of challenges they embrace. And is a a great guy; great to work with. Five, six years ago, auditioning for Idol, Adam could never have imagined being frontman for Queen on an international tour. Equally, five, six years ago, Brian and Roger never imagined finding such a singer and performer who would give them this opportunity to do it up in the grand tradition they thought had died with Freddie. Cassie....there were a few top notes he seemed to sit just under...but more like he was singing in minor rather than singing flat...but they resolved and left you unsure if it was on purpose or not. I had to go listen to Freddie's original to make sure that was the case....was it just my ears? What was he doing there....he sounded amazing...

The old slings and arrows - just because you sing another artists song doesn't mean you are trying "to be" that artist. #lesigh Let the games begin... Oh and I particularly HATE the "he's a good singer but" refrain. NO "he's a good singer period"

Freddie is definitely a legend, but so much time has passed, their was bound to be a singer come along that had the talent to match Freddie's. While Freddie is a legend, I always find it disengenious to Adam, when people say he is a good singer "but", or he is no Freddie. This is not about Freddie with all due respect, the reality is their is no one alive today who can touch Adam Lambert vocally. The point is he is not trying to be Freddie, he doesn't have too be, he is a pretty damn good Adam Lambert, and he woulden't be Adam Lambert if he was trying to be something he is not. Oh and Adam Lambert ain't a good singer, Adam Levine is a "good" singer, Adam Lambert is an extraordinary singer.
