Q3 made an excellent point about the reviews of this tour. Back in the day, when Queen was touring the US with Freddie, they were not universally loved and revered. In fact, they were not infrequently jeered and criticized. They only became cultural icons of rock after the fact. They were in a unique position to take on the "more famous and beloved after death" theme while still alive, and by NOT continuing on as before but with a new frontman, as other bands did. In the eyes of many, Queen died with Freddie, and thus, took on heroic status posthumously. (Not to say they did not deserve the accolades -- they most definitely did.)
Brian and Roger must be thrilled in their own way with the overwhelmingly positive reviews and responses they are getting on this tour. I think it is probably a "first" for them. I wouldn't doubt that they have Cheshire cat grins on their faces at times. Certainly, going out on a massive, sold out tour with all the bells, whistles, lights and smoke for the first time in 28 years has to be a heady, surreal experience for them. And playing the music while hearing that soaring, powerful voice take their songs to church? Priceless!
They probably anticipated the "He's no Freddy" (spelling intentional) refrain. They have heard it for years. But when you have a talent that phenomenal at your disposal, who the fuck cares what others are saying? "Damn! This is the most fun we've had in nearly 30 years! What a rush! What a gift! What a blessing! Long live rock and roll!"

Aw, this is awesome. LINDSEY PARKER is now writing for Rolling Stone!! Guys, if you haven't been around since the American Idol days, Lindsey - who generally writes for Yahoo Music - has always been one of Adam's biggest proponents since the first day he set foot on the AI stage, and has championed him faithfully ever since. TRUST HER to make a perfectly fantastic timeline, and for Rolling Stone no less !! Please give this some loving clicks. www.rollingstone.com/music/news/they-are-the-champions-a-queen-adam-lambert-timeline-20140618

Because I can't seem to help myself, I think I have found out what kind of plane that is. Based on the number of windows, tail and engine configuration, I think it is a Bombadier Global 6000. This jet was purpose-built to fulfill the desires of the most sophisticated and demanding business travelers without compromise. classicrock.teamrock.com/features/2014-06-27/blog-why-adam-lambert-is-the-perfect-man-for-queen#BLOG: WHY ADAM LAMBERT IS THE PERFECT MAN FOR QUEEN
27/06/2014 ~ by Stephen Graves What's with all the hostility? Queen and Adam Lambert are made for each otherQueen are back on the road, with American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert stepping into Freddie Mercury’s stiletto heels to belt out the band’s hits.
See them in concert – I have – and it’s clear that Lambert belongs with Queen. He’s got an astonishing voice, he inhabits the band’s material while putting his own spin on it, and he has great chemistry with Brian May and Roger Taylor on stage. So why are some fans fuming? Thou Shalt Not Worship False Idols
Go on Facebook or the Queen forums, and you’re greeted with a torrent of abuse. Lambert’s a manufactured pop performer, they say, riding the coat tails of an iconic rock band to success – and desecrating the memory of Freddie Mercury in the process. They couldn’t be more wrong. <snip> Is this a Glambert or a sane person? I think its a real article!

Oh, ya...we've expressed our love for this review last night after the concert! ETA: I think only now I finally fully appreciate the degree of courage on Adam's part....his balls are made of titanium really, regular steel would not do.... cause he knew he would be facing the huge shit storm unleashed by the "old farts"...and he still went for it, just out of love for his craft... this man is a giant in so many ways....

Oh, ya...we've expressed our love for this review last night after the concert! [grins] I'll admit I crashed at 10 pm EST last night and haven't waded through the concert thread yet. Promising myself I can read after I finish this paper I'm working on (my only incentive - this thing is painful)!
