"morning after review:
*PRE-SHOW*
milling about the concessions area with my friend was fun because while, as expected there were older (50+) aged fans but there were also A LOT of people my age (20s) and teens (plus tweens and kids with parents). In fact, I would say the ratio of under-30s and over-30s was very tight.
*PRE-SHOW AUDIENCE COMMENTS*
also, the excitement was palpable even at this point. EVERYONE was either talking about how they "heard Adam was doing a great job on the tour" or "I saw Queen back when..." or "my friend saw QAL in ____ city and he said it was the best show he's ever seen" "OMG Adam is so hot" (<heard from a few tweens, hehe) or "Adam was robbed on AI" (<from a few older dudes, haha) or "this kid actually seems to really gel with the band" etc etc etc.
(^all these BEFORE the show even started)
my friend and i had amazing seats on the floor near the stage and looking up at that iconic Queen crest curtain really amped us up even more. it was also cute watching as people were taking their seats around us, how excited they got when they saw how close they were. of course, we all know we're close because we bought our tickets ... but actually SEEING your seat and the amazing view tends to catch you off-guard, emotionally. people were so giddy- "oh my god, look how CLOSE we'll be to them!" lots of big, excited smiles around us.
*THE SHOW*
as the music died down and the lights lowered, and especially when the Procession started playing, the audience was READY and LOUD. i could tell immediately that i was going to be proud of this audience bc they were ready to party. and party, we did. DAMN.
*START*
it was like a long-release explosion of energy from the audience. it was very clear that the band was feeding off of of us. like the chicken-and-egg question, and like the infinity tattoo Adam got to represent the constant flow of energy between him and an audience, i couldn't tell if Adam got more and more amazing because the audience was SO into it, or if the audience got more and more into it because Adam got more amazing. but it was clear that, by his 'a capella' toward the end of 'Now I'm Here' when he says, "now i'm here; i think i'll stay around..." the audience was SOOOOOOO on the ride with him. and we totally EARNED that big smile he gave us
*MOMENTS*
oh my GOD, there were so many amazing moments. in fact, i totally believe Brian's tweet that said this was the best Queen show in decades... because this show felt SO SATURATED with incredible moments that it was almost difficult to catch one's breath. most great shows have a handful of very memorable and unique-to-that-show moments.... this one though... i don't know. Adam and Queen were #UCKIN' MAGIC together up there. it was SO OBVIOUS how much they enjoy each other as people and as artists. and oh my god, did the band enjoy Adam. they all (Spike, Rufus, Neil, Roger, Brian) were just as 'smiley' as Adam... it was JOY. it was infectious. that audience/band energy flow is REAL.
MOMENTS, NOT IN ANY ORDER:
1. CLTCL - this has always been one of my favorites of this tour (i can't comprehend how some don't love it) but HOLY $HIT, this show HAS to be the most amazing performance of this so far. i CANNOT EXPLAIN the exchange of JOY that seemed to pass between Adam, the band, and the audience. 'Fun' is suuuuuch an understatement.
*****THEY ALLLLL WENT DOWN WITH FLOORBERT!!!!!!!!!! Brian and Neil got down on the #uckin' floor with Adam!!!!! oh my god, everyone around me was flipping their $hit and i couldn't stop laughing it was so amazing LOL LOL LOL Rufus was cracking up behind his drum set too LOL
2. the ON-STAGE-ADAM-SELFIE-WITH-VIP-KID - sorry, i can't remember which song this was in the middle of but it was such an adorable moment and such an Adam thing to do. that kid will carry that memory for the rest of her life. i loved this little moment.
3. KILLER QUEEN ANTICS - what can i say that hasn't already been said? Adam is PURE freakin' entertainment. the audience LOVED his playfulness. and i LOVE that Brian has decided to come down the secondary stage to play with Adam on his 'fainting couch'
Brian really seems to wholeheartedly enjoy Adam and Adam totally knows that and runs with it. their interaction this time was hilarious. Adam's facial expressions had my whole section cracking up.
4. 'GIMME ALL YOUR LOVE' AUDIENCE-JAM-COLLAB - DALLAS REPRESENT!!! THAT'S RIGHT BITC#ES - DALLAS TURNED A SIMPLE 'CALL-AND-RESPONSE' INTO A FULL-ON JAM SESSION!!! all i can say is we are awesome and Adam took advantage and turned our enthusiasm into an AMAZING moment. and i LOVE that the band was like 'well, ok! this deserves some jam time!" Adam is such a natural showman and entertainer. the joy he gets from a great show is equal with the amount of energy and talent he leaves on the stage for his audience. Magic.
5. THE NOTE I SERIOUSLY DIDN'T EXPECT AT THE END OF A SONG I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER RIGHT NOW - I JUST KNOW HE'S NEVER ENDED THAT PARTICULAR SONG ON SUCH A RIDICULOUSLY HIGH NOTE - again, sorry, i haven't watched all of the YouTubes yet but i just remember at the end of a song, Adam took a note into the #uckin' STRATOSPHERE and BLEW my everlovin' MIND. i seriously turned to my friend with a "holy $hit, did that just happen?!" look on my face. and then i looked at Brian on stage and he looked blown away too!!!
There were SO MANY other moments I know i'm skipping but... just... sigh, it was so amazing.
*ADAM'S VOICE*
words can't describe how thankful I am that i got my a$$ in gear and bought tickets to this show. this was the first time i've heard Adam live, and everyone is SO right. video recordings don't even do his voice justice. to be surrounded by his live voice is like being in a very vivid dream-state. i'm just going to leave it at that.
*ADAM'S HOT BOD*
to take it to a shallow place for a moment: ummmmmm..... i really didn't believe it could get better than all the photos i see....... but jesus christ, that boy has DONE GOOD to his body. DAYUM. seeing him in person.... U.N.F. my friend who was with me (who casually enjoys Queen and gets a kick out of my Adam fangirling), kept whispering to me throughout the show things like "holy $hit, he's hot" and "he needs to wear that crown when we have sex" (and she's well aware of his orientation, haha). i'm serious, his Sexy hits you off guard in-person. i was not prepared.
*AFTER SHOW AUDIENCE REACTIONS*
to put it in a word: LOUD. we were VERY loud. the bands faces when they exited (ESPECIALLY Brian's)... they really felt the love, bone deep. that audience was freakin' THRILLED.
after the house lights came back on, ALL i heard were amazing things from the people around me, young, old, men, women, button-up shirts, black lipstick... people were amazed. favorite comment right after the lights came on, this dude near me goes, "WOOOOOOOOOO DANG. that boy has TALEEEEENT!"
