Melliemom this is just my opinion but Freddie isn't considered "just" a singer. He was Queen in many respects, main songwriter and frontman for a band. That is very different from being a solo artist, which is what Adam is, who is known more for his voice and not for being a songwriter. There is no comparison in my mind. It just is what it is. I can't imagine anyone right now who could have the stage presence and voice Adam has and still be a humble guest of the band. I think he's doing it. And he makes it look effortless which makes critics take for granted how hard these songs are to sing. Freddie needs no defending, he's a legend and rightly so. Adam's doing amazing and if folks don't get it, they respect it when they hear him live or else they can stay in the 70s and 80s and that's ok too. QAL makes me enjoy Queen with Freddie even more, not choose. And the combo of the collecting, obsessive recording and generosity of both fandoms in sharing is a very cool thing. So take any FLD or critical views of this tour and go: so what. Enjoy!

It seems to me that Adam is sooo good that some of the critics are now defending Mercury. They seem to forget that Adam isn't trying to be a Mercury replacement, he's respecting him and honoring his memory . A lot of real upset ,IMHO, that Adam is so amazing....Oh no he'll never be a Freddie, nobody can be as great as our Iconic Freddie... But what if Adam is that good or better.. what happens to the legend in the critics minds? It's almost like how dare Brian and Roger continue on,21 years later, without Freddie.. How could they. When Queen toured with other singers there really wasn't anyone who could come close to Freddie on his rock throne.. but now there is Adam Lambert..... Why there can't be more than one incredible singer in the world ,I'll never understand...Freddie is Freddie and Adam is Adam.. how lucky for all of us to witness two incredible performers.. I so hear you. I was just rewatching Toronto STL and WWTLF - the two songs I allow myself now while on rations ahead of my show next month... It continues to boggle my mind that the head diva of the church of glam rock (TM someone yesterday) is the same singer who gives us that tender dramatic beauty of longing and loss. Sure the voice is constant but Adam so fully inhabits what he sings I think that's what makes his genre hopping so effective and at the same time makes it hard for people to accept him in the more rock numbers... Oh he's that musical theatre idol kid so of course he fits STL, KQ, WWTLF etc. But i find him pretty damn effective on the heavier rock songs too (close your eyes and don't watch just listen)... But then I've never liked voices that sound like they are trying to hit high notes and simultaneously pass kidney stones :-)

But for someone who needs no defending a lot of people sure feel the need to. #justsayin I agree completely re the fandoms and am looking forward to being there for the collective jaw drop of people when the hear Adam live at Melbourne show :-)

Solo song writing credits: Freddie 52 May 48 Taylor 22 Deacon 15 there were also 51 songs that are attributed as co-writes. so...Brian and Freddie wrote the majority of the songs either solo or as co-writers source

There is one more change to the setlist -- "Gimmee Some Love" is over 4 minutes long -- pretty much a song at this point. Paul Rodgers is one of the best blues rock singers ever and can sing almost any blues-rock song on request -- an amazingly talented musician -- and a major star for decades -- he used to have a lot of "star" demands, all earned IMO. Not sure about what he is like now -- but he seems more "mortal". In any case -- Brian said -- 'Paul was macho, but Adam is a diva'. I think that gets it.
