Guitarist Brian May had stated bluntly at Rolling Stone: the spectacle of Queen + Adam Lambert tour does not summarize is a gift for fans. It would not be a repetition or imitation of the past, but rather a new experience with a "true and good" singer. The explosive demonstration was made last night at the Bell Centre with Adam Lambert, a new voice is not that of the legendary Freddie Mercury, but that is the height of the band whose music transcends ages and generations.
Even before the entry of musicians, audiences of all ages begin to clap the rhythm of the famous We Will Rock You. White smoke rises from the scene. At exactly 8:20 p.m., we finally hear the electric guitar behind the curtain. Then everything explodes. Loaded with leather, dark glasses on his nose, between Lambert on stage with Now I'm Here. Already, he outlines his vocal abilities uncommon, while May shows what we already knew: this is a king of the electric guitar.
They linked together with Stone Cold Crazy, then successive hits all night, Seven Seas of Rhye (1974) to The Show Must Go On (1991). Extracts we mean at least 12 of the 15 studio albums the group, more than 20 songs in all.
Phenomenal voice
Let us say at the outset: the legendary Freddie Mercury, who died prematurely at age 45 in 1991, was one of the greatest voices in the history of rock. Beyond this voice was a showman amazing, irreplaceable being. The original members still active, Brian May and Roger Taylor have done well to emphasize in the title of their tour that is a tandem, the group and singer Adam Lambert. The latter leads his side a beautiful solo career with his own tours and albums since he finished in second place in American Idol in 2009.
We will never know if the controversial vote that elected the folk singer Kris Allen winner instead of Lambert was influenced by homophobia - that's at least what supporters claimed the singer, who has never hidden his sexual orientation - but we understand why veterans Queen have chosen for what could well be the last tour group.
First, it has a phenomenal voice spanning several octaves and able to go in the very acute. Essential acute and did not Paul Rodgers, another singer associated with Queen from 2005 to 2009. It is also a chameleon voice that allows Lambert to sing whatever he wants, in virtually all sub-genres pop and rock. Although the artist has 32 years of aesthetic affinities with Queen songs. But one can easily imagine able to resume with gusto and in his way of success of some groups of the metal family whose singers have - or had - as remarkable as the diverse voices. We think of Mötley Crüe, Scorpions and Deep Purple.
Like Mercury, it seems to have been put on earth to wear eccentric costumes and revel in theatrical intensity in front of thousands of spectators. This is a genuine showman with a personality Diva charismatic, able to win the affection of the public space of a few songs.
remembrances
This evening, we also retain a nostalgic interlude for perhaps a little too long. Brian May himself alone in the guitar to sing Love of My Life after explaining that Mercury was sitting right next to him, at this very moment. A verse or two later, the deceased icon appears as a projection to sing with him. It is then the turn of Roger Taylor singing solo Days of Our Lives while we project images of the group at different times. A beautiful moment.
One number missing from the event: Love Kills first song recorded for Mercury's solo career, where Lambert became entangled in false notes.
As I write these last lines, shortly before 22:15 Brian May is spoiled with a long and crazy guitar solo behind psychedelic lighting. We had not heard the three biggest hits of Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody is, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions. But we suspected they kept the best for last.

Happycat14, From Q3: This is worth a listen -- the first caller said she does not like Adam, but then said he was good. Definitely a Queen fan show was at the 1981 Montreal show. "Adam did a fantastic job." "A great, great time we had." Then they read a couple comments from online posts. The one con was the show started 50 minutes late. Then they played something from the show -- but not on this clip. Read more: adamtopia.com/thread/2450/back-usa-fun-montreal-love?page=3&scrollTo=520085#ixzz37XyWjRED

Actually I thought this first viewer quite funny. She starts off by saying she doesn't really like Adam but then says how great he was. I also found it interesting that she called him a bit of a comedian.
