@valilac: Fit for a Queen: Adam Lambert fronts rock royalty tonight phillynow.com/2014/07/16/fit-for-a-queen-adam-lambert-fronts-rock-royalty-tonight/ … Fit for a Queen: Adam Lambert fronts rock royalty tonight Josh Kruger July 16, 2014 Lambert’s comfort in his own skin-tight jeans probably accounts for his wide appeal in America, and, in particular, amongst queer people. After all, Lambert, like Mercury, is queer. That may not be news of the world, but it gives Queen’s ongoing legacy a kind of magic. 7:30pm. $35-$125. Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St. 215.336.3600. wellsfargocenterphilly.com QUEER??????
Lawdy lawdy, ain't heard that word in a very long time.
other than that, a great write up, makes me want to hop on a plane about now. YEHAW!
Josh Kruger, the author of the article, is an openly gay man so I don't think that "queer" was meant to be an insult.

Looking around on the internet, it appears that Queer, once considered derogatory, is being reclaimed. The meaning meant to be more inclusive than "gay". According to the oracle (HAHAHA) Wikipedia, "Queer is an umbrella term for sexual and gender minorities that are not heterosexual, or gender-binary. Originally meaning strange or peculiar, queer developed a usage as a pejorative term for homosexual in the late 19th century. Beginning in the late 1980s, some political and social LGBT groups began to reappropriate the word to establish community and assert a political identity, with it becoming the preferred term to describe some academic disciplines and gaining use as a descriptor of non-heterosexual identities.[1] Queer may be used by those who reject traditional gender identities as a broader, less conformist, and deliberately ambiguous alternative to LGBT."

Ha ha, I was just about to say that I read recently that the word "queer" is being reclaimed, but you said it much better, Cassie. Great cartoon, Kamar -- keep them coming! I'm excited that so many Atopers are going to the Philly concert. I LOVE recaps!!!!!

This will be the 3rd largest venue on the US tour, after Detroit and Chicago. Lots of people think MSG holds that distinction, but it doesn't. MSG has the history and tradition of many years of famous concerts and sports. But size wise, it is beat by most of the newer NBA arenas!
