Show at msg was fantastic, my spouse loved it, was taking videos and pics and telling his friends how great it was. Still have 1 seat for merriweather if anyone is looking. Read the review online for nytimes but have to say that seeing it in color today at family where we are in Brooklyn is distressing. Sigh. The pictures are gigantic to pull you in to read that BS. Normally I would grab the paper as a keepsake, maybe the picture at least! Will try to write more next week. Enjoyed hanging out w folks in Philly and NYC.

A very brief recap: Had a great time at the MSG concert. Highlights for me were Somebody To Love, WWTLF (the singing was wonderful and the lights beaming off the disco ball made me feel like I was floating and twirling in space), the last several songs leading up to BR. BR was very powerful I thought. Some of my favorite parts of these recaps are when the writers have gotten opinions from other concert goers. I’m far too reserved to talk to my neighbors. But I will share the reaction of my husband. He is very musical, and is totally uninvested in either Queen or Adam. He was only slightly familiar with Queen and hadn’t heard much about Adam since watching AI that season. He loved the concert. Although he liked Adam on AI, he thought Adam had improved greatly and was worthy to be fronting Queen. More than once, he said that Adam was “rhythmically very strong.” (Yay! A form of praise I hadn’t heard before-I’m a bit tired of hearing Adam’s range praised.) He also said that Adam had a fantastic ear, as Adam sang a cappella a number of times yet was on perfect pitch with the band when the band came in again; most singers would drift away from the right pitch. He also mentioned how Adam would sing high without screeching (unlike many other singers in his opinion) and was impressed with his stamina. Interesting, my husband said he felt bad for Adam being subjected to all the Freddie nostalgia during the concert and being “forced to say some words” about how great Freddie was. My husband absolutely loved all the instrumental solos—the bass solo, the drum duel, and Brian’s guitar solo. Thus he was enraged by the NYTimes review and ranted on very entertainingly about how if that reviewer had had the chance to hear, say, Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapellli do an impromptu hourlong improvisation at a concert the reviewer probably would have complained about that too.

My favorite vids show the band until they walk off the stage, and this does that. Watch Roger put on his gold jacket. First time I've noticed that.

#FLD....
"Obviously he is no Freddie Mercury, and that’s OK. The minute you stop looking for Freddie is the minute the fun really starts." Review:Can Adam Lambert-Led Queen Keep The Band’s Classic Legacy Alive?Excerpt: The lyrics to show opener “Now I’m Here,” seemed to take on new meaning, serving as a defiant response to any skepticism. He not only hits the operatic notes, which we must remember is no easy feat, but he accomplishes it with a mix of ferocity and glam elegance that do the song justice. You can almost hear a collective sigh of relief from the crowd as Lambert lets out the song’s final octave-straddling scream. This is gonna be alright. Read more:

I got choked up again watching his emotional reaction to the love. GAH!

TALCvids @talcvids Sustained standing ovation for @drbrianmay on approach to endstage to perform "Love of My Life" @ MSG NYC! <3 TALC HD youtu.be/GdZNx61LBBU This is such a magical moment in the show, it just makes me cry. At my concert with the huge screens Freddie did seem to be there. I think it's a huge moment for the crowd whether they are the ones who know about Freddie or the ones who ask "who's that". It's all tied in. Some reviewers have called them a tribute band but to me it was a tribute to Freddie and although I know they did those many years ago it still seems fresh. And the ovation as Brian comes down is both a welcome to Brian and a thank you for the part of the concert that came earlier. It's a good job, so far everything has been amazing moment, something cool is coming.
